I've never read this book but you're so right about the fetishization of gay romances. I'm always worried to pick up a book when I see the way fans interact with a book. Is the actual book fetishizing? Is the relationship even important? Is the series about these two men or is just the most popular part online? Is it tastefully done and respectful of lgbt? Who knows!? I sure as heck don't ��

@magic-in-every-book omg I get the concern here, if it’s just about the text I think it’s always just up to your intepretation and it can be fairly obvious through stereotypes like bury the gays etc whether a text is trying to tell a story about that vs just utilising an lgbt character for diversity (and people do get mad when it’s the former lol). 

my criticism is more like how fans interact with the work. and how fetishisation is really done by a lot of straight women authors or fans who only exclusively engage with media involving two gay men - it’s a big definite Thing that always grosses me out and while I know that of course there are many other fans, that always seems to be the loudest voices whenever it comes to things like this, and it’s fairly consistent (even way back to like, supernatural lol and how it was a predominantly female audience but it got super popular because everyone shipped the two main white men ://)
