How would Violet react to meeting a bat pony in an unexpected place?

She’d treat any others as kin of a sort, really. Respectful and trusting to a degree. The only races she inherently distrusts (ie: is totally racist towards) are ponies, like earth, unicorn and pegasi.

I’m not really sure where you’d consider an unexpected place though, if you think about it, they’re all over in their own way. Whether or not you’re aware of them, though, that’s the question! Keep in mind they’re largely nocturnal, so you’ll not see them around noon time very much unless they changed their sleep schedule to accommodate their lifestyle.

You have the Night Guard, so you see them commonly in Canterlot. You have various communities where they’ve come to terms with ponies and live among them. And you have the clans, who’ve shunned away the pony communities and live out in their own. Usually by forming their own community out in the wilds, be it in caverns, or treetops, or whatever manner of way they see fit.

Chances are if you’re out hunting or exploring out in the wilderness of Equestria around nighttime, it’s not unexpected at all! You may not be aware of their presence, but they’re certainly aware of you~
