Who's ready for something that exactly a grain of the internet knows?
So Starlighter is a "Minecraft Roleplay" that is voice acted and semi-animated in Minecraft. It's a modern remake / reboot of a much MUCH older MCRP called The Magiclicas, (pronounced muh-GEL-ih-kuz) which is very fun but also objectively...kinda bad. It's still a fun and engaging RP, but it very much contains artifacts of its time—to which Starlighter makes active improvements.
I know that there's a very tiny Tumblr fandom for The Magiclicas, and practically none at all for Starlighter (save for Becca, our strongest soldier). So, consider this your propaganda post! And a threat for both ramblings and art, which I'll be reposting promptly.
Here's Season 1 of The Magiclicas and the main Starlighter Series. Yes, there's more. Find out if you dare.
This is literally my constant mood working with Jakey.
I’m like. I just vibe. And do stuff. And I’m way too invested in magical stories. And apparently I’m reliable. That’s like, literally it.
I remember when I first joined the team, I was exploring the Discord server and I saw the team managers role. I thought “I could probably do that” before scolding myself. I remember my exact next thought: “the only reason I’d get there is if people weren’t doing their jobs right, and I don’t want that.”
Well, turns out that’s exactly what happened, and I did do my job right so I?? Became a secondary team manager?! And then I became the lead team manager of a different section! How?! Why?!
And even after Magiclicas died, I was one of the few people that stayed active elsewhere. Just because I liked helping and I liked what was being made with Origins, even if I didn’t watch most of it. I never expected anything from it, I just like helping and creating!!
Now I’m?? In charge of a major project?? And I help with a few secondary ones??? I seriously wonder what I did to deserve to be where I am because honestly, I haven’t done anything more than what I would do anywhere else.
I seriously think I kind of owe my current self to Jakey. For giving me these opportunities to learn skills I can use for the rest of my life, and to grow as my own creator and learning what it takes to make this sort of thing. Ironically, I FOUND Magiclicas looking for examples of how to do roleplays. It’s so weird how I’ve come full circle...
I'm inches away from rewatching magiclicas again (was talking about it to a friend and got hit by a nostalgia) and I forgot how dated it is. I still love it :3
Oh gosh I wish you luck! Ive been unable to rewatch it knowing how dated it is... I love it but also sometimes just... HOW LOL
When YouTube casually recommends you a 5-year-old video that was a monumental thing that has a direct correlation to becoming who and what I am today????
I entered into this competition, being cringe and submitting an OC I made in like 15 minutes and basically just advocating for the villains to get more screentime essentially cause they kinda sucked and I wanted to see them do more evil things
Well this video comes out and I'm a little nervous? And there's 10 finalists for this actual competition. Well as each one goes by I'm losing more and more hope, sad but not surprised...
AND THEN BOOM IT'S ME! LAST ON THE LIST BUT STILL ON!
(I think I must've been the only villain-group submission from the looks of it cause that community was filled with basic-lovers and I wanted some spice)
I didn't end up winning the community vote (not a surprise) and the character and VA who won went on to do be a really good addition to the plot before they literally just disappeared off the face of the Internet?
But this in some ways instead got me onto the general production team for Magiclicas, which turned into "whatever series Jakey is making" for a while, and then into the Starlighter I work on today!
I know some people knew me specifically from this stupid competition and my cringe ass emo OC but I hope that from it maybe I've made some /slightly/ cooler things to be known for in the meantime?
WHAT STARLIGHTER CHARACTERS WOULD KNOW GARNACHOV AND WHO WOULD THEY GASLIGHT ABOUT IT
you ever see a piece of media and you’re like: polygamy would solve every single plot point.
If there would be one terrible no good thing about Magiclicas becoming anything but a 2018 mcrp no one knows about it’d be the fandoms thoughts on the Melissa, Chase and Casey love triangle and the Walker family drama.
