The Magic TrackPad 2 A First Look
A couple of days ago, I picked up the new Magic Trackpad 2 from the Fifth Avenue Apple Store. They just got them stocked there. This new trackpad costs a whopping $129. I think it is worth it. In this video, I open and set up the trackpad. And I got it working with my 2010 iMac. My iMac does not have Bluetooth 4. Why is that important? Because Apple says this trackpad needs to work with Macintoshes that have Bluetooth 4.
But guess what? Even though my iMac doesn't have a Bluetooth 4, the new Magic Trackpad 2 works with it, both wireless and with the Lightning conneciton.
Why do I think it is worth $129? Well, it gives my old iMac four things:
1) A recharchable trackpad. The old one I had to put batteries in it.
2) It is a bigger surface than the orginal Magic Trackpad
3) Unlike the original one, it works both wireless and also connected by a Lightning cable to the Mac.
4) And finally, it has ForceTouch. That means when you press down on it, all sorts of cool stuff can happen. So it turns my 2010 iMac into a modern Mac just like the new MacBook and the Macbook Pros.
