We have the complete 24 volume hardcover set of Man, Myth, & Magic: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Supernatural, including magic, mythology and religion. This was a great series edited by Richard Cavendish and was originally published as a British weekly magazine by BPC Publishing, Ltd.. In 1970 BPC Publishing Ltd put out a very popular hardcover set condensing all 112 magazines into a 24 volume set, featuring over 1,000 articles with some 5,000 illustrations. If you were at the Guillermo del Toro exhibit at LACMA, then you saw their set on display...now you can have your own! Special Teachings from the Arcane Science by Edward Clarence Farnsworth Smith & Sale, Maine, 1913 Hardcover, 89 pages, 5.25" x 8" This antique occult text is bound by blue cloth-covered boards with the title emblazoned in gilt letters on the front cover. Very clean pages with a few minor pencil marks, and some small stains on a few pages at the end. Good binding. Cover has a century of shelf wear, but is still nice. The text itself is full of vague and perhaps intentionally mysterious teachings. The introduction notes: "The author is well aware that to the majority of readers the bulk of these writings will seem altogether fantastic. Many fail to interest themselves in things outside of the usual, and this failure largely invalidates their opinions. Many more refuse to consider whatever lies beyond the narrow province of hard and proven fact, and from this class a sneer is inevitable." The author, Edward Clarence Farnsworth, goes on to discuss his work in the context of the famed Russian occultist Helena P.
