🕯Ritual or Spell Candle, for sale
This handmade red spell candle contains whole cloves, ombré rose petals, lemon and eucalyptus essential oils, and a small piece each of citrine and yellow fluorite. It is housed within a solid crystal jewelry box, which can be reused after the candle is finished (if you would prefer not to wait, it is possible to -very carefully- remove the candle by turning the box over and gently tugging it out; however attempt at your own discretion).
$15 local pickup; $20 shipped
To preserve the integrity of the crystal, the bottom has been lined with a fine sand mixture to help absorb heat. Candles should never be left burning for longer than a couple hours; never leave burning candles unattended.

Gifting this beautiful cardset and guidebook of The Antique Anatomy Tarot to a dear friend and burgeoning bruja; the card interpretations are stunning visually and thought-provoking literarily. This deck is a ‘pip’ type deck meaning the card designs are more symbolic than scenic (as you would find in a standard Rider-Waite deck), but the imagery still lends itself to intuitive understandings of each card. I am very excited to see how they bond with each other🖤🔮💫
A heavy storm rain came through today and autumn finally came with it. Since I haven’t made a real offering yet on my new altar, and since my birthday season is autumn, I listened to the storm, which was reminding me to show gratitude for another year coming to a close.
I left a bowl out during so as to collect rainwater. Amaterasu, Benzaiten, and Inari prefer fresh, clean water. When making offerings to my principle o-kami it is also important to make offerings to my ancestors, of blood and spirit. So this water is also for my grandmother, who is a hibakusha, and for any who have ever longed for water, fought for water. For food I am leaving a sweet, juicy mango on a bed of dried rose petals. This is offered not only to the o-kami but also the spirits of Noe Itō, and Kochiyama Yuri, foremothers of my values who sacrificed and suffered many physical and material hardships during their lives to fight for what is right. Lastly, in the incense burner producing cedarwood smoke, I offer Japanese white rice, sea salt, and fine teas to all who protect me.
In a day or so the water and mango will be left outside for nature kami to partake of, and the contents of the incense bowl will be ground to a powder for placing along entryways and windowsills; if there is enough left I will draw a sigil or two. This is to replace the last protective markers that were washed away with the rain, and revive the energies guarding my home by invoking my o-kami.
My love has been feeling rundown and unwell lately, and he requested a health and wellness concoction out of the ingredients I have on hand currently (as I’m still getting settled in, my herbal stores are low).
In the orange glass I mixed:
🌿one scoop of Super Greens: a superfine plant dense blend to alleviate low nutrient levels
☀️a dropper of liquid Vitamin D: the days are getting shorter and it’s been cloudy on top of that, as well as spending the entire weekend inside
🍄a dropper of Seven Precious Mushrooms tincture: to aid and support the immune system, and adrenal function
🍵In the mug I brewed a really strong blend of mint, green, and ginger turmeric tea, with whole chamomile and rose hips added straight to the mix. Mint for digestive health, green for mental sharpness, ginger turmeric for the anti inflammatory properties. Chamomile for calm, as stress wreaks havoc on the body, and rose hips for natural vitamin C.
I let this steep for 7 minutes while focusing intent. Once steeped, I removed the teabags and flowers, and allowed the dregs to settle. I added it to the orange glass a tablespoon at a time, and allowed it to cool completely. I asked him to visualize it penetrating even the most remote cells of his body as he drank it, and had him follow it with a full glass of room temperature water.
Disclaimer: I am an experienced herbal practitioner. I am familiar with the diet and lifestyle of my boyfriend. I can not recommend the use of this to anyone else. Temperance is my card for today, and, as a Sagittarius sun, it is also my personal tarot. The appearance of this card should be taken as a strong sign of support, that the spirits I have asked for guidance are responding. All is well, be not afraid, and maintain moderation for continued clarity and harmony. This card is indicating that today my many obligations (including all of the ones that caused me to post my daily card so late) will be well met and returned. In the larger picture, Temperance reinforces the reversed Devil from yesterday- I have started to leave my bondage behind, and I successfully walk forward.
My completed witch’s ladder. A rundown of the significance of individual items can be found in a previous post; here I would like to focus on how I bound the ladder.
As a biracial witch, I consistently use both mother tongues for spell creation. My altar consecration spell, to clean the space during the new year, solstices, and equinoxes for example, is entirely in Japanese.
As I wove each item into the braid, I recited the following, weaving a new item with each new recitation, for a total of nine times all together:
「一 (1) 二 (2) 三 (3) (ichi, ni, san)
bind by hand
よん (4) 五 (5) 六 (6) (yon, go, roku)
prayers go up
しち (7) 八 (8) 九 (9) (shichi, hachi, kyū)
offer me to you」
This is also the spell that I would use for any type of knot or cord magic related to growth, release, or birth. For the opposite set of uses, namely binding, sealing, or punishing, I can alter the intent through replacements and wordplay. In Japanese, four, seven, and nine all have dual pronunciations.
Four can be pronounced yon or shi; shi is also how to say the word for death, so that is the pronunciation we use for bindings, and never for anything of positive intent. Seven can be pronounced shichi or nana; shichi is thought to symbolize ‘togetherness’ and is considered a fortuitous pronunciation. This makes it good for growth intent, while reserving the neutral nana for binding. Nine can be pronounced kyū or ku; both of those pronunciations have other kanji that is pronounced the the same way. The kanji symbol for words associated with relief (such as kyūsai or or kyūen) is also pronounced kyū, thus this pronunciation is considered lucky. Ku is also the pronunciation of the character for worlds associated with pain (such as kutsū or kushin) and is considered the unlucky pronunciation.
Thus I could make these changes:
The last section becomes
「なな (7) 八 (8) く (9) (nana, hachi, ku)
かみ (kami) punishes you」
And in section two, 4 would change from よん (yon) to し (shi).
As such I can be very specific with my intent through the pronunciations chosen for this spell.
