For once, it was a quiet morning.
Not wholly quiet, no—the phone still rang (answered with practiced speed by Midorikawa), keyboard clacks still echoed in the outer office (it was by a hair, but Yamimori's typing was heavier than Nikoyama's, Shigemoto's engineer ear could tell), and Sakuragi and the other ladies rotated in and out of the office (always chatting, never leaving new addition Tsuchiba out). But this was almost humdrum in comparison to the past year…to the past few months. So when Shigemoto left his inner office to grab a reference, the quiet caught him unawares. He scanned the outer office, surveying the usual cast of characters.
…ah. That was why things seemed so quiet to him. One face was missing, and Shigemoto couldn't recall if he'd seen him yet today.

Which was why they waited now in a posh rented room, a neutral third space separate from either the Magilumiere or AST office, to meet with Koga Kei. Although, truth be told, this meeting had Kurairi sitting on the fence.

Things with Kamakura weren't going to calm down. Not with Magilumiere back in order, and not with Kurairi's resources and Midorikawa's connections and Shigemoto's plans all put into play.
Still… As fast as they moved, returning to the city after escaping the island, none of it was done in a day. Kurairi, for all he was worth his pretty pennies to Sakuragi and her friends, felt a pang of guilt that not even he could snap his fingers and have everything fall into place. This magic industry was leagues different from his previous ventures. It was enough to leave him sighing in the background of the Magilumiere office while the ladies spoke with Midorikawa and the engineers.
"Tired already, Kurairi-kun?"
