The first Discworld book I read was The colour of magic, so obviously I was doomed to have Rincewind as my favorite character, still, It's Discworld, every character and book are great, especially the witches, they're my go to recommendantion for discworld beginners, having read two of their books this year so far, I had no choice but to draw them. I love them, this was fun to do

Terry Pratchett is amazing at writing women, this isn't a new thing to say. But I was having a think about how he wrote women, and tried to think up what common thread there was between his woman characters (especially because with most authors, especially male authors, you tend to be able to tell the author's 'type' by the way they write woman love interests).

At first I couldn't think of anything, because Pterry wrote such a diverse range of personalities, ages, jobs, body types etc.

And then it hit me. The one prevailing thread in all the Pratchett books I've read so far: Pterry's woman characters are just so opinionated. And I love that.

Feeling the desire to reach into Witches Abroad and shake Magrat because it doesn't matter if you personally don't like the swamp that is not how you evaluate good magic.

The reason that Granny Weatherwax was a better witch than Magrat was that she knew that in witchcraft it didn't matter a damn which one it was, or even if it was a piece of grass. The reason that Magrat was a better doctor than Granny was that she thought it did.
