to everyone else, though, she's this darling, sweetheart of a girl that helps everyone with what they are looking for, even going as far as bidding on a first edition rhoynish history collection with her own money and donating it to the library, just so a student could use the original footnotes written by the author in an essay, and it drives him INSANE.

It's actually really revolutionary for tazmuir to write in Gideon enjoying food and food as a comfort.

Gideon, a girl who's lived on leeks and oatmeal for years, finally getting to eat real food. And enjoying it. And eating a lot.

Gideon deserves it!!! Although other characters are slightly unnerved by it (Harrow, because she lives on water and uncooked cauliflower, Camilla because she likely doesn't know why Gideon is eating so much) the narrative doesn't demonize her for it and it's just kind of acknowledged, and we the audience sort of understand it as, "she's never eaten anything more than leeks in her life"

I wish I could say more but I'm just. So hyperfixated on Gideon, a girl who's allowed to consume without being seen as gross for consuming for doing things that would, today, be demonized because Gideon is a girl (a teenager girl at that!!)
