Of course this guy was going to be here if the robo-chick was, honestly Shelly didn't even know why she was surprised by this point. And yet here she was. Jaw open and eyes wide at the sight of the mud-muncher.
It would be logical to just turn the other way and sprint a good couple of miles away from him...But when was the mighty Team Aqua ever logical?
"Unbelievable!--Actually no it's pretty believable. Of course you're gonna' be here if your human calculator is!"
"So I'm also guessin' you've bumped into Archie too? Man, I hope you've been treatin' the boss with respect! Despite his punk exterior he holds a sensitive soul."
Grin as wide as ever with a single hand on her hip, despite not being Magma's biggest fan, it was good to see familiar faces.

.... ..... ...But did he mean it? ✖
He didn't exactly... doubt him. No, that wasn't it at all. The left field confession had simply shocked the salty dog more than he ever realized it could. On top of everything that had happened it held quite a bit of weight. Perhaps because yes, he had felt it too -- something he had long been just on the cusp of, only realized when the other's words mirrored his own feelings. Or perhaps because of what it meant, what would change and once more... ✖
Once more, it was all so strange... yet every part of it welcomed. ✖

My Opinion on;
Character in general: I'm going to be brutally honest here, I found all the pokemon antagonists really lackluster and shallowly written until we got to Cyrus and N, and they're still my favorites, and all the others still kind of pale in comparison. I get the charms of Maxie's character but they seem really thinly applied to me and honestly the quality of his writing was upped in the remakes but I still can't say it was enough to draw me in and get me to say 'yeah, I really like this guy.' Out of the two antagonists of his generation his aims made more sense but they were still really questionable like for someone as intelligent as Maxie he has to realize pokemon magic doesn't make water disappear and forming more land connected to current continents will just force more basalt to sink under the crust and there's an equilibrium? Matter can't be created or destroyed? The water's still gonna be there and if it's in the atmosphere it's gonna rain down at some point? I try really hard to like Maxie because Dia's portrayal of him charms me but to be really honest I just view both him and Archie as mega wasted potential and they've got such good roots but they could be so much more. How they play them: I like the more understanding tone that Dia's Maxie takes, honestly. I enjoy that he sees how his ways form errors but for someone as smart as him I still wonder why he didn't have that kind of hindsight in the first place? Dia kind of recognizes that he lacks that hindsight, that Archie lacks that hindsight too. He's a lot more reasonable and less antagonistic than he is in the games when Dia writes for him, which is more in character for a man like him than his canon actually is. I like Dia's Maxie more than I like Maxie but I still have trouble liking Maxie...I do really like that you don't force him to play the feminine part of any partnership he has with Archie, to be honest. The fandom really tries to force that on him? I appreciate all the work you put into him.The Mun: Tolerant of children, tolerant of her family. Dia is virtuous in all the ways I'll never be! She lends a hand whenever she sees someone in need and honestly kind is just ... the best way to describe her? She's sweet and motherly and super gay and it's only been a small amount of time that I've had her in my life and she just oozes gay so much gay look at all her ships so gay but it's so sweet and makes me feel so warm inside and Dia feels like my mom. I think Dia feels like everyone's mom. Look, this one half of the gay attracted the other into my askbox. Damn you ashy mom, you invited salty dad.

skin.
The movements were numb.
Jarring, they should have been. But he hardly felt his own body make the change from desperate running to rigid forward propulsion. Straight and narrow, unwavering. Like a ship, really, he pushed -- a solid figure alone, silent but sturdy as it made its journey. What he wouldn't give to be sailing now, that comfort long forgotten in wake of this city yet missed all the same. At least those feelings were simple and comforting; they made more sense than what had been suffered this evening.
It was not too long, then, that he reached the address that had been sent to him in what felt like only moments before. Much longer, it had been, as he entered the seemingly empty Inn in the dead of the night. Exhaustion wore on his head and his heart but he trudged forward, the single ship, mast carried by the wind of his own resolve. His own great need to see with tired eyes the relief that had been promised via text message. Fear, however, did not leave him with this. It could have all very well been a lie, a fabrication meant to further harm the situation-- ✖
He trusted Maxie. Too much. ✖
He nevertheless hoped his suspicions would be wrong. Perhaps the one time he truly wanted to be wrong, pride be damned. Room 246... a desolate hallway with poor lighting but a strange welcome feeling. Close, he was so close; his pace quickened, heart now in his throat. 242... 244... there. There. His knocking came immediately, the previous nerves returning as his figure trembled. What was here? Was it what he wanted, what he needed to know as the absolute truth? All he needed was a single look, just to know, just to see-- ✖
The door opened and his breath caught. ...Safe. Only safe and only Maxie. His ship could dock, successful and assured, closing an embrace around the smaller man as a choked version of his name left his lips. He felt different. This was different, strange and new. This frame he had nearly memorized -- stiffened shoulders, posture upright and attentive -- was softer to touch. Warmth he did not expect given how hardened it always seemed. ✖
