Considering Whiskey's line "don't leave me" or something, do you think he would continue conducting his experiments in secret in order to find a way to ensue that MA would not be taken away by death ever again?

[I think he would. Especially since simply being summoned by them doesn’t necessarily entail or ensure their escape from death. Having been summoned simply means that he’s able to have easier access to his attendant in order to prevent any incidents from occurring as well as having easier access to perform experiments and obtain bits of information. This could go in either direction depending on his personal interactions with his attendant.

“A happy end” as I could all it would result in his experimentation continuing until he reaches some realization that death is an inevitable part of life or that he wouldn’t be able to revive his attendant – from his line, “there is nothing of equivalent value to you”. He would then come to realize that he just has to make the most of his time with his attendant before going to find them (their reincarnation) once more.

The “Bad End” would result in a continued experimentation that results in some kind of twisted means of “preserving” his attendant and not being parted from their side anymore. I could see something where he makes an attempt to give immortality to his attendant. Going by his line of “there is nothing of equivalent value to you” gives some indication that his experiments will never be successful. Whiskey would probably succumb to some sort of despair and distorted mentality. I could easily see him lose sight of the “freedom” that he wanted his attendant to have, and become too focused having his attendant with him for eternity. Ultimately from his quote about an “eternal sleep” and “freedom” and “not parting from their side” He would probably end up still granting some sort of immortality to his attendant, leaving them with only an empty husk of their former self. He’ll probably become really deranged and psychotic after that in trying to convince himself that he’s happy with the way that he’s caused things to turn out.

Personally, the happy end doesn’t seem that it would be as likely to happen. If anything, Whiskey would typically fall along the lines of what happens in a “bad end”. I’m going to answer this ask with a short story on the “Happy end”. I had actually wrote out a “bad end” awhile back before Whiskey’s backstory was leaked and we got more info on him.

“WHISKEY!”

“Ah, Master Attendant. How are you doing this afternoon?” Whiskey looked up to greet his frantic attendant with a deceivingly innocent smile on his face. His guise of innocence may have been rather convincing if he wasn’t standing over Pizza– gagged and strapped to a table– holding a syringe ready to inject some unknown substance in the food soul.

“WHISKEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” The syringe was promptly yanked from his hand, and Pizza was hastily freed.

“I was only doing some experiments~,” Whiskey responded matter-of-factly. “Pizza was just acting as my assistant~.”

“ASSISTANT, MY ASS!”

“Hehe~, Master Attendant, the reasoning for your anger is unclear to me~. We were having fun, the both of us.”

Whiskey was promptly hit on the head.

“I would be lying if I said that didn’t hurt, Master Attendant.”

“When are you not lying, Whiskey?”

“Hmm~, got me there~.” Whiskey gave them a teasing smile, only for it to be returned with an unamused expression. He chuckled to himself as he took the syringe back and began cleaning up his workspace– tucking things neatly back into his briefcase.

“Why are you experimenting on Pizza in the first place?”

Whiskey stopped putting his notebook away mid-way. He contemplated his answer for a few moments before giving his answer. “What if I told you that I’m doing this for your sake?”

“Are you trying to deceive me again?” The pout on their face gave him reason to think that they were not amused by his answer.

Whiskey chuckled to himself. Their past incarnation simply accepted deception as a part of a grandiose fairy tale in order to give the guise of happiness; it was interesting for him to see the difference between their past and present selves.

“Would you believe anything I tell you if you’re constantly doubting the integrity of my words?”

“I can just hope that you’re lying when you said that.”

Whiskey felt their eyes on his back – piercing with unfaltering determination; it was the same gaze that he had admired from them since their fated meeting in a previous life. The sensation burned upon his back and gave a growing discomfort within him. He was left without ability to respond for several moments. “Why is that, Master Attendant?” He regained his composure and faced them with a practiced smile. “I would have expected you to be flattered by the fact that you occupy all my thoughts and motives.” He responded in a teasing tone, despite the fact that he was all but serious about his answer.

The gaze was averted, and Whiskey took this opportunity to turn about and regain his tenacity in the tide of the conversation. He took advantage of the lack of response to assert his own philosophy.

“Master Attendant, we food souls are cursed with eternity.” Whiskey took slow strides in walking towards his attendant, carefully deliberative in his manner of approach. “Tell me, what do you think we food souls experience in an eternity without the one we’re bound to serve?” The gaze towards the ground at the side revealed all the answers he needed. “Master Attendant, do you not think our inevitable parture is lamentable?”

He inwardly laughed at the silence between them. The answer was clear, after all. With such a clear answer, is there any reason as to why his own personal motive was the contrary?

He nearly turned back around, only to be stopped with an unexpected response.

“If it is truly lamentable…. Then why not cherish the finite time we have together?”

He was unexpectant, but not surprised, by the answer. It was something they would innately say, after all.

It was such a simple answer. It was an answer that he had once answered to his own inquiring thoughts.

But it suddenly had such a strange impact coming from them.

Those words

It brought relevation to a previously overlooked reasoning behind his true motives. It shone light upon the contradictions of his intent and goals, and it showed him once more what he truly sought for all this time.

“I’ve only ever wanted your freedom.”” Whiskey laughed to himself as he gazed satisfyingly at his attendant’s smiling face. “You’re correct, Master Attendant. Which is why this time… I will not let our time go to waste again…”
