Dear Friend, (don't reblog)
Why aren't you willing to apologize when you mess up? You make it hard for me to trust you.
You are a person who will say one thing and do another.
You are a person who has to tell people that you're a good person, but your words and actions don't always add up.
You would rather fix the situation by changing your behavior (it took you over 2 years to do so) and then waiting for the other person to see that you've changed. This is halfhearted behavior.
And yes, I do see how you've changed, but there are times when you go back to doing the same things. And considering how much you care about your ego and how others view you, and apology can go a long way towards keeping you accountable.
An apology doesn't require much: acknowledge the things you did/said, apologize for it, and tell the person/people involved how you will change your behavior AND THEN demonstrate it with your changed behavior. Words and actions go hand in hand. If you can do one, but not the other, then you are still a person who values your ego more than you value me.
To quote Mary from P&P: "Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us."
You have some thinking to do. Don't expect me to wait for you to grow up.
