MAHIMA SHYAM started streaming out of boredom, mostly. she was bored and rotting away in her apartment after starting her law degree at the bhimrao ambedkar university (BRAU). despite her love for it, law isn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world, and BRAU was far from the oceans of kochi, her home.
DATING SIMULATORS, on the other hand? as a world class otaku with a PhD in otome game speedrunning, dating simulators and visual weren't just a passion — they were a religion, something that was familiar and comforting. with the power of god and coffee on her side, she began streaming at night, never showing her face but always recognisable by her signature soothing voice.
by day, she was nerdy law student mahi shyam. by night, she was MALLIGARDEN, the self-proclaimed "emperor of the fangirls" who played through dating games with the focus of a scholar studying arcane texts from the middle ages.
before she knew it, she had exploded in popularity. dating sims were a niche no other streamer filled, after all, and mahi's style of gameplay was incredibly entertaining to her fans. soon she had expanded into various indie games, puzzle games and JRPGS like mouthwashing, catherine and fire emblem three houses.
suddenly, within 6 months, she was one of the biggest streamers on twitch...without her fans even seeing her face!

MAHI'S FANDOM worship their emperor. they exclusively call her "your highness", "your greatness", "your excellency" and "your grace", and refer to her oshis from every game as "the emperor's' harem." the fandom are THE ROYAL COURT, the humble advisors of the empress. although they're loyal, they also love to ragebait the emperor like crazy by lying to her about specific games or trolling her for her oshis.
furthermore, in between the ragebaiting and simping, mahi loves to talk to their audience about more serious matters, like politics, philosophy and spirituality. she often advises the royal court about how to handle problems and provide irreverent and incisive commentary on current events, right before getting her ass pummeled by klavier gavin in apollo justice ace attorney.
unlike other fandoms, the royal court relishes in how little they know about the emperor. every new piece of lore that mahi drops becomes its own meme because of how infrequently she mentions anything about herself, and massive the lore drops are.
take, for example, when mahi mentioned she had graduated from law school and moved to england....a whole YEAR after the fact. yeah, the royal court went wild with that one, drawing fan art of mahi's sona in a court wig fumbling in front of edgeworth as he pulls out the updated autopsy report.
but even that became outdated as a month after the first stream, mahi then casually mentioned she had begun her masters in public policy, meaning she wasn't a practicing lawyer anymore! it's like every time the royal court comes out with a new timeline of mahi, something disrupts it.
the most bombastic lore drop however, tops them all.

it was an ordinary fire emblem stream. like usual, mahi was thirsting over dmitri's biceps.
suddenly, out of the blue, a chatter mentions that their boyfriend doesn't like dmitri because of how much the chatter likes him, and always pouts when he appears on screen.
mahi pauses, takes a sip of their coffee, before casually dropping a nuclear bomb that would rewrite the royal court's brains forever.
"yeah, i know how that feels. MY HUSBAND pouts whenever i mention all my oshis. i mean, obviously he doesn't actually feel threatened by a fictional character haha. he's just a drama king that wants attention from me."
"YOU HAVE A HUSBAND!?" another chatter types.
"oh wait...did i not tell you guys? yeah, i've been MARRIED since last june. i thought i told you all when i said i moved...it's because he works here in england."
the next day, it makes the sunday newspaper. yes. the real news. #marriagegate trends for 2 weeks.
