These two original songs were my big personal projects throughout March / April.
Cosmic Radio is an original song contest to get your work potentially noticed by rhythm game composers (think Cytus, Deemo), and potentially have your music entered into the games themselves.
「Fairytale for Cynics」 is what I would call in "MasterChef" terms, "me on a plate". It's a hybridization of my preferred genres and instruments. (Orchestral / Drum 'n Bass / Dubstep / Waltz )
「Death Would Be a Relief」 was a collab with my good friend, and talented VA / singer @maidenofmine. I wrote part of the lyrics, she finished writing the rest, and I explicitly asked her to front the vocals. This was also a study/first venture into trying the Future Bass genre.
I worked on them on and off as I had time between work, ever since I found out about the song contest.. but it took a lot out of me in-between other events happening.
The second song was a really close call to not being on time, even though I tried my best to pace my work out.. but I'm glad I was able to finish and submit both projects. Making original music doesn't come too easily, or naturally for me - so it's more of a skill that I use when I have some kind of specific opportunity come up. There's a ton of entries and insane talent out there in the contest just on YouTube alone, so I admit I feel a bit out of my own depth compared to those who always create new songs on a regular basis.
Regardless of the contest's outcome, I'm grateful I was able to give it a try and challenge myself! I learned a lot from doing these projects.
