would love to know what joel fic recs you have that are similar to the way you write??? like poetic and pretty and nasty lmao. you've ruined all the other fics for me cause none of them are written as good as you write 💞💝

right. so.

anything and everything by atticrissfinch on ao3. my personal favourite is the series 'Gimme What I Want.' it's a great breather from the heavier subjects that they write about lmao so do heed the warnings. i think everything is written with a great deal of care, though, and i would recommend to anyone who's into the harder kinks.

speaking of hard kinks, 'the art of breaking' by corazondebeskar is insane. it's only 19k words but i read it all in one night and was so enamoured by it that i had to read it again the night after. again, heed the warnings and read through the tags carefully. it's certainly not for everyone.

for a longer fic, i would say 'East Side of Sorrow' by Zialltops. it's perfectly taboo and equal parts melancholic.

alsooooo my favourite ever smother by @beardedjoel!! i do not have the words to describe the way it affected me or the memory to remember how many times i've re-read. its a comfort fic atp which says a lot about me i think.

obviously the holy grail @gutsby too. i like to say that they're the mother of all joel writers. literally my holy mary.

and @macfrog of course. i think their writing on here will forever be ingrained in the psyche of the entire joel fandom. it was so sad to see them go. the joel fandom will definitely not be the same without them and their gorgeous prose.

and my awakening, @joelsdagger who is not only the sweetest person ever but also an incredible writer. 'thats the way road dogs do it' was so incredible that i still think about it all the time. literally just read through the ao3. you'll see what i mean.

i can think of no others at the moment!!! there are so so many joel fics out there that it really overwhelms me sometimes, so i like to stick to what and who i know. i cannot recommend these writers enough though. i think reading each of them has developed my own writing in one way or another and my ability to explore themes that i was too afraid would be ridiculed. we're all perverse down here!!!
