Why I'm mainstream but not into hype (???)
So here's the thing.
I like common things. I like mainstream things. I'm not very hipster, although a part of me is geeky/nerdy. I don't go out of my way to find something that very few people know about.
HOWEVER, I have an intense dislike of things that are hyped and that everyone starts to like around the same time. This is why, for example, I avoided the Harry Potter series for a very long time. I didn't like Lady Gaga until "Telephone" (and that was pretty much it for me and her). I still haven't watched Titanic. So, like, if too many people start to like something, I'll unnecessarily start backlashing against it.
With K-pop, I appreciate the underrated groups, the ones that to me try really hard to succeed...and are still kind of a hot mess. I started to love Kara around "ROCK U" days. I currently love Dalshabet & Rainbow (BLAXX FOR LIFE). I oddly started to develop a taste for Red Velvet (SEE WHAT I DID THERE).
So yeah. I myself am a hot mess.
I will say, though, that once I like someone or something, it will take a LOT to get me off that train. Nicki Minaj did that with the whole AI fiasco, for one thing. But it's hard. (I still like Kara. I am forever a Spice Girls fan.)
Meh?
