FACT - Maintainance periods are important!!💪 If you've been in a calorie deficit for 12wk+ you're potentially doing more harm than good for your training and mindset. 🧠 You probably need a maintenance phase to make progress 💁♀️ I cut earlier (8wks) this year prior to competing, then switched to maintenance calories and macros, which I've been using the @rpstrength app to support since. This has allowed me to enjoy my strong and lean physique whilst indulging in 1-2 cheat meals per week (including cake!!) staying within the threshold for my maintenance bodyweight. 🙌 This has allowed me to re-set and recover from the depletion of cutting, its given my central nervous system a much needed break and broken the scarcity mindset of a calorie deficit. I'm fueled to perform and recover, both physically and mentally. Simultaneously its helped me hit some PBs across all the disciplines, helping me improve my crossfit performance across the board. Maintainance phases are vital if you take your training seriously.
