Factory Supply can design and fabricate ladders and platforms in nearly any material. Depending on the quantity of order we will design and fabricate special jigs to ensure product consistency. Seen here is a clean room crossover ladder that is specifically designed for pharmaceutical purposes. Once a custom design has been approved we begin fabrication in our specialized U.S manufacturing facility.
Because the requirements are for the pharmaceutical industry special consideration must be given and our welders are experts in the field. The difficulty in cleanroom fabrication is the majority of the weld body is ground down for the snag free finish. Therefore if the weld is not fully penetrated there will be cracks or holes leaving the ladder defective. Our quality assurance program ensures that every custom ladder and platform is thoroughly inspected prior to shipping.
A question commonly asked is ‘what is a clean room?’ Generally speaking a Clean Room is an enclosed room that has equipment which controls the amount of particulate matter in the air by using air pressure and filters. To meet requirements of a Clean Room as defined by Federal Standard 209E and newer ISO Standards, all Clean Rooms must not exceed a particulate count as specified in the air cleanliness class. In laymen’s there can only be so many contaminating particles in the air. So our clean room designs cannot create dust or debris and need to be designed so they are as easy to clean as possible.
With this cleanliness in mind the tube handrails were seam welded and the frame tig welded so we wouldn’t have excess splatter on the product. Per OSHA 1910.23 the handrails are without any obstructions within 3 inches for safe access. These safety regulation design implications are handled with our customers prior to fabrication with 3D modeling software and our approval drawing process. Our designers can customize current products and/or design completely custom solutions depending on the application.
In this example our design solution involved specially made diamond tread steps that interlock to allow the entire crossover to be enclosed. A final inspection was done to make sure that all customer tolerances have been met and no gaps exist. This was important to our customer as they required zero tolerance for anything falling from the crossover ladder while in use.
