I find this article about Delta particularly interesting because this past weekend I flew on one of the Delta Airbus aircraft.  I thought it was strange that the pilot had announced the type of aircraft we were aboard. Most passengers probably did not even notice, but since I work in an aviation related industry - it caught my ear.

Corrosion and Moisture Resistant ladders

In order to find the best warehouse ladder to fit your application, you need to understand how the materials differ.   Maintenance platforms are commonly used in the majority of industries.  Food Grade and pharmaceutical are some of the specialized industries that have distinct qualities that the equipment they use must possess.  In many cases an aluminum platform would be the ideal choice for these industries. 

Aluminum when welded produces a clean, semi shiny finish that does not require powder coating.  The finish is easy to clean and works well in sanitary environments.  Eliminating powder coating cuts down on costs and production time.  Many clean room quality businesses request aluminum for their access solutions. 

Aluminum ladders also offer an advantage in moist or damp environments.   Unlike steel, aluminum does not rust.  Marine ladders and stairways are most commonly made out of aluminum for this reason.  Larger wheels can be added to aluminum ladders to make the rolling ladder perfect for outdoor use. 

The most requested benefit of aluminum would be the strength to weight advantage.  Aluminum is only one-third the weight of steel but still can provide a stable platform and high capacity for technicians and employees.

Stainless Steel vs Steel Cantilever Ladders

Cantilever ladders are designed for those hard-to-reach areas.   The cantilever ladder provides an overhang that allows access over different obstacles.  The counter weight permits technicians to be able to walk out on the platform that extends past the stairs.   The 300 pound capacity provides a safe platform for the employee plus the tools they need to complete the job. 

Steel cantilever ladders are powder coated in standard grey.  These ladders are rugged and stable, perfect for warehouse and other industrial applications.   Get more information.

Although the stainless steel ladders are higher priced than the steel cantilevers, it still may be the most cost effective solution.  Stainless steel contains 10 percent chromium which makes it highly corrosion resistant.  The chromium also makes the cantilever ladder safe for high temperature environments by inhibiting any bending or warping.   

The stainless steel cantilever is also going to be the best choice for food grade or clean room applications.  The easy to clean material makes it the top material choice in places requiring strict sanitary conditions.  Get more info!

Both the stainless steel and steel cantilevers are available for customization.  Standard ladders come 24” wide with a 14” overhang, but we also offer wider and longer platforms.  All custom projects are designed in house and a drawing is provided for customer approval before any construction is started.

Boeing Aircraft Engine Access Stand

The engine access work platform is customized to have the ability to operate either at the flat 90 degree angle or the 27 degree laying platform.  This allows additional access around the aircraft engine.  The aluminum ladder platform has a specialized landing height of 104.6” per the customer’s request.  This maintenance stand can be constructed at almost any height requested.  This maintenance ladder was designed with the Boeing 737 and 757 aircraft in mind.

Tank Access Work Stand

This aluminum platform has been custom designed to provide tank truck access for maintenance.  Two separate 7.5’ x 3’ platforms bolt together to make one 15’ x 3’ work stand.  Three aluminum fixed ladders provide workers access to the platform.  The designer used composite decking keeping the maintenance stand as light weight as possible.  Safety features include removable handrails with a mid-rail and safety chains on all fixed ladder entrances.

Custom Shaped Ladder Platform

Factory Supply provides custom ladders and platforms for maintenance and production needs.  This aluminum ladder was constructed with a custom shape top platform.   The unique triangle shaped platform allows the ladder to fit into narrow areas for maintenance while still providing adequate space for workers or technicians.  This work platform includes 4’ toe boards, 42” handrails with mid rails, and composite tread.  All of these features were included in the design to increase the safety and protections for employees using the maintenance platform.   The aluminum build and lightweight decking allow the ladder to roll easily on the spring loaded casters.

Stock Picking Ladder Stainless Steel

This rolling ladder includes two storage shelves much like our standard steel stock picking ladder.  The reason for the customization was to include cleanroom sanitary standards in the design.  The custom ladder is made of high quality stainless steel and includes a cleanroom electro polish finish.  The top step is 21” x 18” allowing more work platform space.
