Littles and Bigs of all ages and sizes! Tired of plain milk in your bottles? Here's a couple recipes for something with a little more pizzaz:
This one is actually my hot chocolate recipe, minus the cocoa.
Milk of your choice: 1 cup
Heavy cream (optional, for richness): 1-2 tablespoons
Vanilla extract: measure with your heart (or like. One teaspoon)
Brown sugar: 1 tablespoon (or to taste. I'm not a cop)
Dump your ingredients in a saucepan on the stove and stir until it's warm, or microwave it in a mug for ~2 minutes. Pour into your bottle of choice, and enjoy! (A friend told me on good authority that this one tastes like breast milk?? And/or melted vanilla ice cream)
To turn this one into hot chocolate: combine a rounded tablespoon of cocoa powder with the rest of your dry ingredients, then add your heavy cream (or a splash of milk) and your vanilla. Stir that until you get a frosting or mousse consistency, try not to eat it, add the rest of your milk and stir, then heat. This order of operations will prevent clumps of dry cocoa powder from settling at the bottom.
Chai concentrate (usually sold in cartons. Look for brands like Tazo and Oregon Chai in the tea/coffee aisle)
Half and half (or 1 part milk and 1 part heavy cream)
Pure maple syrup (optional and pricy but WORTH IT)
Vanilla flavor syrup (optional)
Throw some ice in your cup or bottle, then fill it halfway with the chai concentrate. Fill the rest with your half and half, leaving a little space at the top. Add a little bit of maple syrup and vanilla syrup, and stir well.
(This is a recreation of a drink my sister made up while working for Starbucks. Once (if) the workers' strike ends, you can order it by asking for a venti iced chai made with half and half, with three pumps of chai, two pumps of brown sugar, and one pump of vanilla)
