Spreadsheet Larson
The type of personality or character I tend to be drawn to is "that man (gender neutral) loves spreadsheets," though I have many favorites that are the exact opposite of that. Which is the category I generally place Kyle Larson into, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.
Which I guess shouldn't be surprising, given that Kyle Larson certainly contains multitudes. He races like a crazy person (and admits this), which results in both "that's the best thing I've ever seen and ever will see in my entire life" and "that looked so silly I'm having trouble even beginning to understand that." But his race demeanor is usually very mellow. He reads mellow outside of the car as well, yet the way he lives his life seems crazy. So whether it shouldn't be or not, it's still surprising--though maybe this is unfair of me, because there may always be some part of me that thinks of Kyle Larson at age 25, even though he's grown and changed so much as a person since. Like, he just gives the unshakable impression of being a seat-of-his-pants kind of person.
But the facts are incontrovertible. Kyle Larson is a Spreadsheet Guy. He's both/and. This is from 2024:
Spreadsheets can be a necessity, particularly with a busy schedule, but people who HAVE to have spreadsheets do not describe them as "nice." They definitely do not say "I enjoy it [looking at my spreadsheets #mysheets]." I know because I've had many conversations with people as a Spreadsheet Guy, and non-Spreadsheet Guys don't think these things.
By god, Kyle Larson is a Spreadsheet Guy.
I was thinking about this again because of a recent interview with Katelyn Larson (as I write this, in July 2026), where she explains that not only is Kyle Larson a Spreadsheet Guy, he's a "organized DropBox" guy:
When an organized DropBox enters the chat, that's some whooooole other level. One day I will fully believe in Spreadsheet Larson. And yet!!! I'm still not sure today's that day.
Multitudes, truly.
