Samantha Ruth Prabhu and her love for multiple heroines movies : A rant!
I need my lovely and talented Samantha to stop doing these multi heroines movies... Only those where the actresses are romancing the same guy, or the same actor playing several roles, same difference really!
In her debut year, in 2010, she did Brindavanam where she's romancing Jr. NTR with Kajal Aggarwal and in her latest movie, in 2022, she's romancing Vijay Sethupathi along with Nayanthara in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (Side note : imagine having the privilege of having Nayanthara and Samantha and Vijay Sethupathi as a cast and giving us #KRK, tragic !! A cute, funny movie but we deserved more from this dream star cast..). I can understand doing them in the beginning of her career but now still?!
If only the multiple love interests were all the central focus of the story like in Majili of KRK, I wouldn't have an issue with it but movies like Janatha Garage? A waste of talent, of all the actresses.
And don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed some of these movies and Samantha's parts. (yeah like that rose milk scene in Mersal?! A classic! Another side note : even when she has the lesser role in these multiple heroines movies (at least on paper) , Samantha's ability to make them the most memorable should be studied) + I love how these actresses aren't afraid to share spaces (if you really think about it, it not easy, especially in a competitive industry) but I wish these commercial directors/writers thought of writing these 'heroines' roles about anything else but romancing the same actor just so they can include multiple dance songs!!!
I'm specifically ranting about Samantha but of course, she's not the first nor the last one to accept these roles, it's just that she's my favourite actress so...
I also understand that it's bigger than that, it's about an industry where hero worshipping is still predominant, where in these commercial cinema, the female role is more often that not, just there to elevate the hero and not the overall story.. But then again, a choice is given to accept these roles or not..
The end of my rant. Maybe more to come..😂
