There are different types of Depression classified according to one's situation and life events and can easily be differentiated with the assessment of the symptoms and found the proper treatment as soon as possible. Depression can be classified into:

PERSISTENT DEPRESSIVE DISORDER
If one is suffering from Depression for about two or more years, it’s called a persistent depressive disorder. This term describes two conditions of low-grade persistent Depression and the other is chronic major Depression. Its symptoms are not severe like major depressive disorder, but they are long-lasting. Symptoms are loss of interest, feeling gloomy, often through a fit of anger, low self-esteem, hopefulness, either trouble sleeping or sleeping too much, concentration problems, and low appetite.
It used to be known as Manic Depression. It shows mood episodes that range from extreme up mood to low depressive periods. If one has a quiet phase, then symptoms are similar to major Depression. Medicine can ease mood swings; however, stabilizers are required for a high degree.
SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER (SAD)
Seasonal affective disorder kicks in winter and eases way in spring. We feel tiredness, lack of energy, and ache, which happens because of less sunlight. One can treat it with the help of light therapy.
POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION (PPD)
It mainly develops during pregnancy or after childbirth because of a significant hormonal shift. Its symptoms are mood swings, anxiety, social isolation, thoughts of suicide, lack of affection towards the baby, irritability, etc. PPD symptoms can be more severe and longer-lasting.
Situational Depression is a temporary stress-related depression. It mainly develops due to mental disorders after a traumatic event. The symptoms may show ninety days after the event.
Atypical Depression may be differentiated by symptoms like extreme weight, long sleeping habits, weakness, strong sensitivity towards rejection, and mood changes.
Psychotic Depression is a situation between Psychotic behavior including Depression. Symptoms may be like major Depression and “psychotic” symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, etc.
