I'm a big admirer of those who hustle to make a buck. Those who not only work hard, but try and cover every base possible they can to earn a dollar. I don't run into as many with that quality as I used to but it's still out their. I get a bit perturbed by those who want to get something for nothing. What is with these tip jars at every other place you patronize? If I'm at a self service place, I'm not throwing a buck into a tip jar for a person doing nothing. I served myself so I didn't have to give a tip. I want to take that tip jar and kick it across the room. Put a sign on it, "donations to help me out since I get paid squat from the owner here". Okay that might get a couple quarters out of me. I pump my own gas and go in to pay, I decide to buy a cup a coffee while I'm still in the store and they want a tip. No flippin way. (if they had a pet zebra I could take a ride on before I left, then maybe I'd leave a tip) I tip for special service, waiter, waitress, the person tending bar, but otherwise get that tip jar out of my sight. Any place where I carry my food on a tray I'm not leaving a tip. I'm expecting to donate blood sometime and find a tip jar next to the cups of juice and cookies they have when you're finished. (silly I know but I keep looking for it) Hey we got your blood let's see if we can squeeze a few cents out of ya? When I go out to a nice dinner I'm a good tipper, but this tip jar nonsense is getting way out of hand. Some of those people give such a dirty look when you don't pitch some money in the jar. I was close to making a comment the other day but my wife kept saying, "just leave it alone". I told her this person probably flunked sand pile in kindergarten and she's tossing me attitude. I'm for everyone in their pursuit of happiness, but I'm not paying your way for no reason. I do think next time I have company over I'm putting a tip jar in the bathroom. Who knows, perhaps I'll make a couple bucks. Why not? Everyone else is doing it.
