it's healthy to be a little bit delusional, i think. i aim to be the kind of person who looks at a thing and says "i could probably make that" and then makes That™️

My mom got me a loom knitting set a while ago and I had no idea what to do with it and then I needed something to do with my hands at work, and rugs are too big and unwieldy after the initial stage
So I made this fingerless mitt and I'm working on the second one and you know what, any time you see a post about "get a hobby that involves making something physical because the satisfaction of having an actual Product is so intense" -- it's absolutely true
it's very slow at work and I could spend all of that time browsing the internet, I mean, I still do a good bit of that, but too much of that and I start getting alienated in some weird ways
there's a lot to be said for being productive not in a capitalist "make money" way but in a "I have had a positive impact on the physical world by creating something good" way
The other way I generally do this is through cooking. Here are some roasted butterkins (butternut squash/pumpkin hybrid):
I got six cups of puree out of these, which is three deep-dish pumpkin pies according to the Libby's recipe (but if you don't have really deep pie dishes it's six pies). And I still have three more of these babies!
they make really nice fall decor
I made about six cups of applesauce, two of which immediately became a cake, and a jar of apple butter a couple weeks ago as well. Look at these beauties
LONG CAKE
None of this is a surefire cure for stress or alienation but I really, truly think it helps. Also baking is its own reward. :D

“ M’SORRY BUT UNLESS they’re the ones who have to push those babies out && carry them for nine months, they have no right in scolding us for SPLURGIN' at baby dior. “
