I think it’s about time someone says something here...
I know how touchy this subject can be, and as a queer teenager, I know if someone who is straight, or not in the lgbtq+ community says it, they will just get bashed by those who are. But this needs to be said, so I’m just gonna say it. Straight relationships in cis people are starting to get overlooked, and the whole situation of queer representation is starting to flip flop on heterosexuals. Now you can argue with, “Well straight relationships were mainstream for decades, and straights weren’t the ones being discriminated. They always had the floor, so now lgbt deserves to get the floor.” I agree. But there is a difference between fighting for equal treatment and fighting for special treatment. We have to share the stage with those who are straight and cis, not shove them off of it. Stop generalizing them and claiming they’re all homophobes. Many are supportive of the community, and even those who aren’t deserve love and support from us, because you can’t fight evil with evil, and you can’t get rid of darkness with darkness. If you are lgbtq, you are beautiful, unique, and have every right to be accepted. If you are straight/cis, you are also beautiful, unique and have every right to be accepted. Our sexualities and genders are not what define us as people. And no matter what our differences are, that’s what the deal is. We’re all people. So please, take a look at yourself and your motives. This isn’t for everyone, but a vast majority that I have seen.
