GOVT. Removes NOC Requirement For High-Rise Projects
ISLAMABAD: In order to provide impetus to the development of high rise buildings in 5 major cities of Pakistan, the government has decided to remove the condition of No Objective Certificate (NOC) for such projects. This is a massive breakthrough for real estate projects looking for vertical development as this move will ensure efficacy in the development of multi-story buildings with commercial shops, offices, and residential apartments. The major cities include Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, and Multan. As a result of this decision, the vertical development in Pakistan is witnessed to take place and a maximum number of middle-income and lower-income citizens can buy affordable apartments for sale in Islamabad where buying a house for sale can be way out of budget for the majority of citizens in Pakistan.
In addition to this, projects such as Bahria Lifestyle in Islamabad have started developing high rise buildings offering commercial shops and apartments for sale. For instance, Whitelay Mall is one of the first multi-story buildings that is being developed in Bahria Lifestyle, and it is expected to provide investors with maximum returns on their investment. Therefore, it can be predicted that the overall construction and housing industry in Pakistan will experience a boost and similar projects will attract local as well as international investments in Pakistan. Real Estate projects in Islamabad such as Blue World City and Capital Smart City are also looking to provide investors with multiple opportunities to invest and earn maximum profits on their investment.

Light Up Islamabad Makes Headway
Islamabad—Light Up Islamabad was an initiative launched by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in October 2020. The campaign was inaugurated keeping in mind the sole purpose of restoring the city back to its former glory.
The project is led by Rana Shakeel, the Member Finance of the CDA. In a statement issued by Shakeel, he encouraged the residents of the Capital to come forth with their suggestions on how to go about making a better place to live.
In the months leading up to the launch of this campaign, many residents had voiced grievances that concerned authorities had been negligent of their duties towards civic issues such as water supply, infrastructure maintenances as well as sanitation.
Since then, the Environment Directorate West, comprised of the Urban Division-I, Nurseries Division and Park Division, has carried out numerous arboriculture activities in order to manage the greenery sustainably. Some of these activities included removing weeds—plants growing unwanted in human controlled setting i.e. on the side of the road or on pavements. Furthermore more, they removed any other rain growth and green waste that looked unsightly, and replaced them with new, man-made trees and plants. Not only will this add to scenic beauty, but trees will also boost oxygen production.
These activities were carried throughout key areas in Islamabad namely: Parbat Road, Srinagar Highway, IJP Road, 9th Avenue and F-9 Park.
The Machinery Pool Organization, MPO, was tasked with conducting sanitation work all over the city, covering both urban and rural areas. According to Shakeel, the capacity of Sanitation directorate will be increased, and plans are being made to obtain 100 large dumpsters and approximately 500 trash trolleys.
While these are great management and sustainability initiatives, CDA understands the importance of upkeep. This is why they have put into place a ticketing (challan) system—individuals and groups will be penalized over mismanagement and littering.
The Street Light Division has done tremendous work in installing and repairing streetlights in numerous districts such as the Diplomatic Enclave, Aabpara Market and the 4th Road.
CDA’s campaign has gained a lot of traction in just a couple of months and had been deemed a success across the board. With this project, the authority has yet again proved its mettle. Want to know what other projects CDA is working on? Click here.

AI and ML: Are they one and the same?
As children we believed in magic, imagined superpowers and a fantasy where robots would one day follow our commands, undertaking our most meager tasks and even help with our homework at the push of a button! But sadly it always seemed that these beliefs, along with the idea of self-driven aero cars and jetpacks, belonged in a future beyond our imagination or in a Hollywood Sci-fi. Would we ever…
