Last weekend was the 7th iteration of Makerfaire Derby and we were delighted to take the event ‘on the road’ to a host venue while the Silk Mill redevelopment is underway. This created a brilliant opportunity to work with a host venue and we were excited to work in partnership with Intu Derby, who hosted Makerfaire Derby 2018 at the Eagle Market.
Our wonderful maker community did us proud, bringing their incredible projects from all over the country to share with visitors. The retailers in the market were generous partners and our visitors experienced a creative mix of activities and opportunities to do their weekly shop! There was a brilliant buzz. We were also delighted to bring The Makory to its first event as the Mobile Museum of Making, in partnership with Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and part of the Great Places programme.
Thanks to all the makers, stallholders and sponsors for helping us deliver the 7th Makerfaire Derby! Thanks also to all the visitors who came on the day. Last but not least, a HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers - we are so grateful for all of your hard work in stewarding the event, supporting visitors and powering through the set-up and take-down - you are amazing!
We appreciate all you support and hope you had a great day! Keep an eye on www.makerfairederby.com for updates about the 2019 ‘On the Road’ programme.
