I've been thinking about an au where Makeshift lives so.. The premise i thought about is basically:
Instead of Team Prime throwing the Shifter throught groundbridge to explode they put him in a cell (Wheeljack still throws the grenade) Cons assume he's dead
Makeshift gets visits in form of overly curious kids (Miko discovered vents and is gonna make it everyone else problem) he talks with them about Cybertron & war stuff Bots didn't share with them and finds himself getting pretty fond of them (he likes how humans are able to mimic so well, he teaches them probably some cybertronian) and really worried because those are sparklings for Primus sake.
He does some deep thinking while autobots manage to just forget about him.. Then when the bombing of first base happens he survives but before he's able to make the big decision his fellow Cons take him back to Nemesis.
He's the one who's put in taking care of Predaking instead of Starscream so in short it means predacon Makeshift
