dress rehearsal for the makeup I'm gonna wear to Devon's wedding on Sunday 😊
doing a deep dive into limited ingredient hypoallergenic sensitive skin makeup options has me about to become the joker. of course ""clean"" is a totally unregulated term. of course brands are trying to convince you that their products are safer bc they're "vegan and cruelty free." of course the "clean" category on websites like sephora and ulta have completely different guidelines and allow things like FUCKING TALC!!!!! WHICH CONTAINS!!!! ASBESTOS!!!! HELLO CAN ANYONE HEAR ME (eta: *can be contaminated with, not contains.)
also of course all the people who are actually making products with >10 ingredients and using skin safe minerals and fruit based pigments for color and so on all cost $283645 and even so the colors they come in are Beige, Beige, Brown, Beige, and Beige

thx to everyone who recommended the lab muffin beauty blog, I am learning lots from it and the INCI decoder app! the tough thing is that all this stuff is about the effect various ingredients have on normal people with normal skin and not a lot about how specific ingredients interact with extremely sensitive/dry/allergic skin. they're also always saying "this is fearmongering bc this won't cause any problems for you unless you have unusual sensitivities" and it's like well I don't wish to spread fearmongering but could you maybe address what the impact is on those of us who DO have unusual sensitivities, lol? we exist and we would like some guidance from the science minded people but they seem largely to not be that concerned about us. whereas the ""natural"" ""clean"" product grifters are ALWAYS talking about people with unusually sensitive skin. like... no wonder so many people with sensitivities and allergies end up turning to ""clean"" stuff. frustrating as hell.

it's infuriating bc there will be like random Wet N Wild Metallic Liquid Lipsticks that are EWG SkinDeep top safety rating and then the lady at MAC will go "yeah this setting powder is totally great for dry sensitive skin" and the first ingredient. is talc. like there's NO RHYME OR REASON TO IT YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW THINGS. YOU HAVE TO RESEARCH EACH INDIVIDUAL PRODUCT AND INGREDIENT YOURSELF. DIABOLICAL!!!!!
