Holiday Makeup Picks
Looking for Holiday makeup inspiration? Here are some of our top picks to glam you up for your upcoming Holiday Party.
My Mac order just arrived! Totally love everything I ordered! :D I ended up getting the Pearlmatte face powder in the shade Flatter Me and a lipstick in the shade Betty Bright. I was surprised how fast the collection sold out online. I placed my order on the first day of the release, just to be sure I didn't miss out, and on the second day, several items were listed as sold out. Anyway, I'm very happy. :D
Beauty Survey
SKINCARE
How many times do you wash your face daily? Once.
What skin type do you have? Combination
What is your current facial wash? Dove soap and Neutrogena makeup wipes. I'm too lazy at the moment for much else of a routine.
Do you exfoliate? Sometimes.
What moisturizer do you use? Something by Clinique
Do you have freckles? No
Do you use eye cream? No
Do you or did you have acne prone skin? I did as a teenager, it was horrible! But now, my skin is a lot calmer and less prone to break outs.
Did you ever have to use Pro-activ? No
MAKE-UP
What foundation do you use? Clinique Even Better Liquid Foundation
How about concealer? None
Do you know your undertone color? Nope
What do you think of fake eyelashes? Not for me. I get too irritated to wear it for long.
Did you know that you are suppose to change your mascara every 3 months? Yes, but do I follow that rule? No. I'm too poor to replace my mascara every 3 months. I use it for no longer than 6 months, and then I replace it.
What brand of mascara do you use? Benefit
Sephora or MAC? Too hard to choose. I enjoy both equally.
Do you have a MAC Pro-card? No
What makeup tools do you use in make up application? Brushes and sponges.
Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes? Yes, I use a MAC Paint Pot in Painterly.
For the face? Yes, I use Makeup Forever Primer in Green to reduce my red complexion and a Benefit POREfessional to minimize my pores. It may be overkill, but I don't care.
What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)? MAC Swiss Chocolate and MAC Wedge.
Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner? Pencil. I have the shaky hands of an old lady and therefore can't apply liquid.
How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil? Almost never. I did that when I was first learning to apply makeup in high school, but not so much, now.
What do you think of pigment eyeshadows? They are pretty cool, but messy! I rarely use it.
Do you use mineral makeup? No.
What is your favorite lipstick? NARS Morocow, MAC London Life, MAC Prolongwear in So Very Good and Benefit Good-to-Go.
How about lipgloss? I'm not that big on lipgloss. I hardly ever wear it.
What is your favorite blush to use? I don't really have one. I alternate between blushes.
MAKE ME CHOOSE
Do you buy your makeup on ebay? NO! I bought a few discontinued MAC items off of ebay, just to later find out that several of the items were fakes. I now only buy straight from the department stores.
Do you like drugstore makeup? Sometimes. I'll occasionally buy a lipstick or nail polish from the drugstore. But for the most part, my makeup comes from Ulta, Sephora or MAC.
Do you go to CCO's? No.
Did you ever consider taking make-up classes? I took a few makeup classes when I was younger.
Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? Not really.
Name a makeup crime that you hate? People who say "pluck" rather than "tweeze" when referring to cleaning up their eyebrows. You pluck a chicken, you tweeze your eyebrows.
Do you like colorful shades of makeup? Yes, but I usually prefer natural browns. Whenever I try to do something a little more dramatic, I end up looking like a cracked out whore or a drag queen.
Which celebrity always has great make up? Anna Paquin & Sarah Michelle Gellar!
If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use? Eyeliner
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on? Yes, but I'd rather apply some makeup and make myself look all dolled up :)
Do you think you look good even without any makeup on? Sometimes. I have my good and bad days, just like everyone else.
In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line? MAC, NARS, Makeup Forever, Bobbi Brown, Benefit and Clinique.
What do you think of Makeup?? It's a fun way to express yourself and bring accentuation certain features. It also helps to make me feel more confident and polished.
My hair routine for my blonde color treated hair
For those who are intrested, I got bored, so I figured I would write about my hair routine for my color treated hair lol. My routine is made up of tips and tricks that I’ve gathered over the years from my stylists and from experimenting with different hair care products.
First off, when buying my hair products, I purchase it from a salon or a beauty distributor like Sephora or Ulta, mostly due to reports and rumors of counterfeit products at drug stores. I don’t know if it is true or not, but I’d rather not risk it and put the funds towards a distributor I find to be reliable.
To keep my hair looking healthy and prevent build up, I try to not shampoo my hair daily and instead skip a day.
When I shampoo and condition my hair, I use either Joico or Redken. All of their shampoos are color safe, so it doesn’t matter which kind I choose. I like to alternate, depending on how my hair is looking. A lot of shampoos contain harsh ingrediences like sodium which can strip hair of color and make it appear dull and faded.
To minimize the yellowing and brassy look to my blonde, I use a purple shampoo 1-2 times a week. It doesn’t really matter which purple shampoo you use, but the darker the purple in the shampoo, the better the results. I like to use either Joico or Matrix. It’s important not to use this everyday, otherwise you will end up with purplish streaks (I learned this the hard way when I was in high school lol). If you do end up with a purplish tint to your hair, from overuse, don’t fret. A few good washes with a standard shampoo will get rid of it.
When blow drying my hair, I use a heat protectant to keep it from looking fried. My preferred heat protectant is Redken’s Color Extend Sun Sparkling Shield.
After my hair is blown dry, I apply one or two hair oils (depending on how dry my hair looks). I’ve found that the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment and the Moroccan Hair Oil Treatment work best for me.
When applying hair oils, it’s important to start by massaging it at the base of your hair. and work your way up. Applying it directly to the roots tends to make hair appear oily rather than healthy.
And that’s it! :)
