I like the slight crush Miwa has on Maki in your AU. The moment the ship first came to my mind was the hug of protection they had in the Shinjunku battle in the domain before the big fire explosion, thought it was cute.

Honestly, I originally didn’t think too much about this ship in the beginning either.

I believe I was introduced to the ship by my mutuals. By @olasketches, @retrodynamics, or @majycka.

At the time, I thought it was cute but didn’t think too much of it. It actually wasn’t until I was thinking more about my pjsk+jjk AU.

Ya see, as I was brainstorming, Miwa initially was gonna attend at Miyamasuzaka but then later change it to Kamiyama. It’s mainly due to keeping the fact that in jjk Miwa be broke poor. Thus Kamiyama is a better fit due to Miya being generally for well off students.

Then I thought about how Miwa would need to work part time as well for financial reasons. And like so I decided to have her work at the Weekend Garage, since low key. That place needs more hands to help around lol

And it was also around the time I was also brainstorming Maki’s backstory more too. Thus the natural conclusion of them meeting each other and becoming friends.

And then my love for the ship just grew 10x stronger as i started to think more about the relationship and how surprising well they complement each other.

Like they are opposite in a lot of ways.

Maki’s more assertive vs Miwa’s more passivity.

Maki’s initial background being from a rich family vs Miwa’s poor background.

Maki’s coming from an abusive family vs Miwa’s more stable family.

But there is also some similarities too. Such as both of them view themselves negatively as lesser than, and both being older sisters as well.

So yeahhh. I like the ship now. They be neat lol.

Funny thing is that Maki in my AU actually sort of grew a crush towards Miwa first (I’ll explain in another post later for this one be long already lol). But suppressed it due to Miwa being in love with Muta at the time.

And now it’s Miwa (who grieved and moved on from Muta) developing a crush towards Maki. But didn’t think Maki shares the same feelings about her.

If it' cool, I'd like to request a MakiMiwa "One year anniversary" prompt. But it's the anniversary their rivarly(though maybe more)

In a Rivals AU(could be sports rivals, AU of Jujutsu, office rivals, really whatever setting you'd prefer)

kinda "choose between platonic or pre-relationship" vibes for this one, but that's not to say i didn't have fun writing this, bcs i had :3 not a very fleshed out au, but i'd say normal high-school au where they're kendo rivals

“Want some?”

When Maki lifted her head, away from her wooden sword and towards Miwa, she found the other girl holding out an already open bag of homemade cookies. Between that and her words, it was crystal clear she was offering to share. Unexpected, but welcome.

“Oh, thanks.” She answered, nodding and reaching for a couple of cookies after placing the sword so it would rest against the wall. “Did you make these?”

Miwa swiftly shook her head.

“One of my little brothers. The other one and I mostly helped with the taste testing, actually.” After that, there came a brief laugh, adorable as anything that came from Miwa tended to be. “And distribution.”

“Does that mean he’s selling them and you’re handing them out for promotion?” It was mostly an attempt at a joke, but after actually trying one, Maki slightly changed her mind. “I mean, ‘cause it’d work on me.” Were it serious, she would be at serious risk, since after one taste she had gotten hooked. “Congrats to the little chef.”

“Of course, I’ll tell you you like them!” Miwa said, beaming so intensely she might as well be on her way to outshine the sun itself. “But those are more like a gift.”

“Huh?”

“Well, today’s been a year since the first time we sparred against each other.” Which had been prompted by Mai telling her Maki would be an easy opponent as a way to tease her friend. “And since I got my ass handed out to me so badly it actually inspired me to become better.” After that first time, there had been countless more, and Miwa’s improvement had been undeniable. “Plus, having a rival has helped me already.”

With how humble she tended to be, Maki was surprised to hear that last part. Not like that wasn’t good, though.

“Rival, huh?” Maki then replied, as if it was the first time she considered it when it couldn’t be further from the truth. “Sounds nice.”
