I am making a long (roughly 3.5 metre by .5 metre) kitchen splashback with a fishy theme. Here are some sketches from the planning process, the colour scheme (but I tend to go a bit off piste with the colours) and the first part of the mosaic under construction.

Done - just needs grouting. Based on the 6th century Qasr Libya panel of horse and rider. This rider is mounted on an Exmoor pony and galloping over the Pentland Hills outside Edinburgh in the 21st century so that’s a stylised pine tree behind her, she’s got a riding hat on and the colour of the horse is changed from grey to brown to be more Exmoor-like. There are also subtle hill-like curves in the tesserae to the right of the horse’s face to reflect the outline of the hills.
