#MakingHerstory || It brings me joy and pride knowing that life comes FULL CIRCLE always. This year marks an important milestone in Women's History as the 100 year anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment. For those of you who aren't familiar with this law: "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." This election, women and LGBTQIA+ candidates have DESTROYED records all across the country. Stats say 18 Native American women, 40 Asian American or Pacific Islander women, 75 Latinx women, and 130 Black women ran for Congress in 2020, and more than 570 LGBTQIA+ people were on the ballot. That not only inspires hope and progress in the positions of "power", but it also proves that when we come together as a people, standing up for the rights of all humankind, that UNITY is possible all around. As I advocate the importance of voting, I want to remind us that it doesn't end with the election. We vote EVERY DAY with where we spend our money, what we pay attention to, and to who lend our support. As my first time being the Election Coordinator in my years working the Polls, it was an honor to lead a team of all women to get the job done! (They are assigned randomly, and we had one male on the team that didn't show up, as life would have it!)
