The Nariphon is a tree from Buddhist mythology which sprouts fruit in the shape of young women. The fruit grow from their heads, and are picked and enjoyed by Gandharvas.
Twelve Nariphon trees were created by the god Indra, whose wife Vessantara loved fruit, but could not wander into the forest for fear of being attacked by hermits. The fruit, which grows in the likeness of the beautiful Vessantara, distracts the men who would otherwise attack her. Any man who makes love to the fruit of the Nariphon will fall into a deep sleep, and awake four months later completely impotent.
