Hiya! I noticed that your bio said that you were open to questions about MaDD and wanted to ask: for someone who's recently discovered that they're a MaDD, what are some terms do you think would be good to know? I've look around a lot of blogs but I don't know what things like Paras or Neuronarrators (?) mean- I hope you have a good day <3 !! :D
Hi, thanks for the ask! I hope you have a good day too :D
I am not entirely sure what a neuronarrator is, but I think it is similar to an immersive daydreamer (like madd but without the negative effects to your life)
Paras is the general term for characters within your daydream universes. They can be entirely made up, a fictional character from a book/tv show/movie etc., or a real life person
A parame/paraself is the version of you that is in your daydream universe (if you put yourself in it), and it is usually the idealized version of yourself; sometimes it can be an entirely different version of yourself (like if you made your parame a different species/an alien).
I think on reddit a while ago they made a term for the para that your parame is dating/has a crush on (I think it was paramour?), but I don’t think it really became a thing. Also the MaDD subreddit is r/MaladaptiveDreaming if you’re curious
Paracosm is the term for your daydream universe. Some people only have one paracosm while others have multiple, and some people only use one at time but switch between them every few weeks/months/years, but it differs from person to person. Also, paracosms can be entirely self-created, existing fictional ones, or just based off of real life
Daydream block is when you have trouble/cannot daydream when you want to, and it is usually distressing
Daydream crash is when you realize that your daydreams are not reality and get upset and/or have an existential crisis because reality will never compare to your daydreams
Also, here’s a list of MaDD tags and how to use them
If anyone has a better definition for any of these or if I missed an important term please feel free to add it to the post! And if you have any more questions I’d be more than happy to answer!
