Malagast is a verdant feudal world located beyond the Imperial border of Segmentum Pacificus, within a region designated as Pacificus Perdita by the Unbound Empire. The world itself is populated with several forms of Homo Sapien Variatus (aka Beastmen). These forms have been divided along various border lines of civilisations developed.
The presence of a Crusade Era colonisation vessel has given cause to believe the beastman population is an Imperial population, despite social and technological devolution.

Geography
Malagast is an unusually verdant world, decorated with bountiful life of Floral and Faunal variants.
Geographically the surface is comprised of seventeen identified island formations, classified into six continent groupings for identification. Of these continents, ‘Malagast Prime’ acts as the primary concentration of populations. Local Dialects identify the region as “
Beyond Malagast Prime, exploration has been limited to orbital scans. This has been by request of Kritski Twinhorn, on behalf of Master Aaskerraak. These request have been currently respected,
// Annex #1 //
Field reports from landing parties have reported universal discomfort during initial landings. Climate examinations show ideal conditions for human acclimatisation, and abnormalities in discomfort were not present in repeat landings.
Psychological screenings have revealed various abnormalities. They appear related but divergent of those from extended Void Travel.
Further examination of anomalies are required before the stationing of semi-permanent populations upon the world.

Faunal Notes
As with other worlds with human based populations, the beastmen located on the world have established a position at the top of the metaphorical food chain. This has given them dominion over much of the region.
A small handful of species are under the early process of domestication, with the most notable being the bovine “ “ and the serpentine “ “
The other species identified by the beastmen have been labeled as “ “, translating roughly to “The Unruly Ones”. It is of note that there is an extreme degree of biodiversity found within Malagast Prime, the source of which is unknown.
As with Beastmen within the Imperium, most appear to have originated from the human genetic structure. These have been divided into several different ‘castes’ which have been based on the different evolutionary differences.

The Malagastian Beastmen
The Malagastian Beastmen are the current dominant species of Malagast Prime. Technologically and socially they are considered Low-Feudal in development, with limited development made into the common usage of metallic alloys. As with other Feudal populations, their society is based primarily around their religious ideals and the social hierarchy which has developed from it.
Linguistically, the primary language utilised is a localised variant of Gothic. Primary changes appear to have come from the partial isolation of the population sources before being partially reunified, but others have come about from physiological changes which have altered communication capacity. With these changes, a small social group of linguistic experts have been cultivated and have currently acted as the primary conduit for Malagast/Unbound Empire communications.
Unlike other beastmen populations, there is no singular strain present within the population concentration. Instead there are numerous identified which each have unique physiological developments and adaptations. For official identification, the different subspecies have been classified as Homo Sapien Variatus followed by their local designation. For example “Homo Sapiens Variatus Ravatus”.
See below for a list of identified currently identified Subspecies.

Dominant Variatus Species
Ravatus - Homo Sapien VR
Ravatus are the most in line with a standard homo sapien population. Variations come in the form of an increased level of body hair, increased prominence of brow, elongated jaw and mouth into a shallow snout. Claws and increased canine size have also been found, but some tribal customs have limited emphasis placed upon their having them noticeable.
Hirkin - Homo Sapien VH
Most in line with the ‘beastman’ image within the Imperium, the Hirkin are caprine beastmen with the traits suiting it. Digitigrade legs, capped in hoofs and increased bodily fur are the most apparent traits. Sexual dimorphism has the development of horns for male Hirkin, but these appear primarily for the purpose of mating displays rather than battling with other males.
Tricolatum - Homo Sapien VT
The Tricolatum are evidently the smallest of the known strains on Malagast, some exaggerated by a heavily hunched posture and curved spine. Blunt but pronounced claws are also grown in place of the normal nails of human appendages. Oddly, they have also developed large whiskers and their bodys are covered in a coarse layer of fur over their body, with only hands and feet remaining relatively untouched.
Madrani - Homo Sapien VM
The Madrains have more lupine appearances. Sharing the digitigrade legs of the Hirkin strain, the Madrain have more padded feet and hands which are in addition overall larger in proportion to a baseline human. A more notably curved spine, and hunched posture, is a dominant trait which makes the utilisation of all four limbs for movement. Their skulls also have more prominent snouts than other strains and significantly more pronounced canines.
Vata’as
The Vata’as aren’t a distinct strain of beastkin on Malagast. Instead they are a more socially based form of distinction around a connection with ‘The Natural Winds’. These psykers can be of any form mentioned above, however the Tricolatum reportedly have the most Vata’as develop their abilities and fill dominant cultural roles within nearly all Tribes on Malagast.
