The Karanthan Military Conclave is an Imperial Military Junta based on the planet of Alban and both before and after their recent change of government they operate as a limited rally point for forces of Astra Militarum within the region but receives limited attention due to the sparse activity within the region of the Imperium.
Alongside its primary role, the world also is known for their raising of the Karanthan Lowlander Regiments. These are primarily supplied from a local industrial base but being geared to internal sufficiency and the unique equipment of the Lowlanders they aren’t able to supply many other forces with equipment beyond a suite of sustenance equipment.

From Nobility to Military
The roots of the original unrest which caused the conflict are unknown to those without access to private or inquisitorial records but it is known that the first shot of the planetary civil war between the Nobility and Guard aligned forces was taken during a planned firing squad execution of an Officer tried for Conspiracy Against the Throne. Seeded with other conspirators, the execution turned down an unexpected path when the firing squad turned and fired into the noble giving the commands.
This quickly devolved as lines were drawn between the Royalists and Cavaliers with lines being drawn on the map and between families from the divide in value between the faith and culture of the population. After investigation by the Inquisition, both sides of the revolt was deemed to be accepted by the Imperium so long as the continued service of the world for Imperial purposes resumes within a set period of time.
As expected by all within the conflict, those major political leaders who weren’t killed in the conflict or at their own hand were paraded around the major population centers before being publicly executed. Minor leaders were often maintained for a smoother transition into the Junta as their expertise was
Currently there has been no other issues emanating from the planet and the five requests for regiments for the Astra Militarum have all been completed with no conflict.

Seeds of Corruption
Seeking to exploit the turmoil on the planet, the Unbound Empire unofficially sponsored the military revolution, providing specialist arms and armour to the General’s forces. The more unconventional forces were kept away but sightings of Praesidium Operation Teams have been recorded but are currently being covered up by the new order. It is unsure whether this was done under the Inquisition’s nose, allowed to happen from negligence or unofficially permitted by said organisation.
With the world stabilised under the junta’s rule, the world has joined the Commonwealth of Halo States. While primarily to preserve the join Imperial operation within the region without needing to draw attention away from the central threats. Unofficially this loose union grants them access to frequent supplies for civilian and military populations which they can’t rely on the wider Imperium providing.
Despite the Ordo Luciferian’s will, there have been the early roots of ideological corruption seeded within the world. The Civilian Logistics Corps and the United Air Fleets are notable for having particular value in having the Unbound Empire as a more complete ally.
The Imperium’s popularity has always been low from the leaching of the military traditions ingrained in the civilian populus and with the recent revolt there has been more ire placed on them as they were the people who allowed the rise of the noble tyrants.

The Karanthan Lowlanders
With a civilisation which has come under the control of a junta, there was a strong military presence on the planet to begin with and these forces act as the core of their tithes and cultural identity. These guardsmen are known as the Karanthan Lowlanders, from their origins in the Ka’aran warriors, and for the purposes of the Departmento Munitorum they are regiments of light occupation infantry.
Fitting their roles, the Lowlanders are uniquely equipped with uniforms and armanets which are more easily producible by local populations. Their uniforms are generally a light set of fatigues which is coloured for their deployment zones and while they can wear armour of this set up they prefer to reserve armour for cases of major unrest and times of emergency. Around their uniform, the Karanthan’s also utilise a similarly light kit of webbing which can be filled to provide supplies for up to a day.
Along with their near complete forgoing of armour, the Lowlanders utilise the Princept Pattern Rifle which uses of a solid round chambered using a bolt action. While ineffective against an ork target, the Princept rifle remains effective against targets in Flak armour and more than a match for less armoured targets.
Praesidium is the home of the Praesidium Steel Bloods and acts as the battered bulwark which protects the Unbound Empire, and previously the local region.
The world was once said to have held the same beauty held by the Terran region of Albyon long before the ruin brought from technological misuse. For the fringe world, its beauty was lost at the hands of external threats who conquered the worlds instead of being from internal strife.
Remnants of this lost beauty is still carried in the hearts of the local population which utilises the limited artistic population to ensure its perpetuation.
Geography
The current lands of Praesidia are a battered and cracked world, with any mass of floral life subsisting within the borders of the eastern continent of Aeanryr. If not for the possibilities to import mass items of food stuffs, and the limited cultivation chambers within the confines of the Fortresses, there would likely be more
Fungal life however has dominated the Ddaearig lands. Orkoid hoards roam the region seeking to better empower themselves while salvaging what little they can from other clans. If not for being waterlocked, far more extensive actions would be needed to prevent this infestation to no require
Contrasting the other two landmasses, Dwyn Taearw is a dead land resembling an amalgamation of an asteroid and a mesa. It is a large region of limited life and trying terrain to those unprepared. While populations are kept to the coastlines it has become an ideal trial zone for physical trials of Praesidium recruits. The Yeomen officers particularly make extensive use of the region for survival training.
Small islands do dot the remaining ocean but the extremely limited aquatic life makes them more used as areas for training in aquatic tactics rather than acting as a fishing port or center of trade.
Population Centers Classifications
Hamlet
A Hamlet’s closest comparison to the population zones of Imperial worlds would be those of larger villages or small cities. They are self sufficent and often have a close connection with the Keeps within proximity.
Beyond their use as inactive duty garrisons with Steel Blood formations pending reorganisation, reinforcement or otherwise awaiting external action, the regions hold no defencive or tactical advantage beyond their limited resource advantage to a holder.
Keeps
The ‘hives’ of Praesidium, these are dense population regions with a powerful manufacturing core for local sustainability. It is extremely common for regiments to be assigned to Keeps to act as the specialist enforcers along side more local law enforcement.
Keeps are often considered the superior to the Hives of other worlds, having a greater defensive potential beyond their extensive voidshields and mere bulk.
Fortresses
Towering monoliths of architectural and industrial might, and perpetual reminders of the world’s ‘liberators’. Where the Keeps are self sustainable in times of peace, it is suspected that the Fortresses are able to remain self sufficient for up to a decade during a siege despite having only access to the surface and upper crust level constructions.
Unlike the Keeps and Hamlets, who can reach double or triple digits when tallied together, there are only eight fortresses along the surface of Praesidium. All upper levels are swamped with constant motion and work of both civilian and military personnel.
Kallig, also known as ██████ █████, is the seemingly self proclaimed ‘Everchosen of Chaos’.
Visually he holds an indiscript appearance, only distinguished by his glowing amber eyes which are apparently mutations after his possession.
Typically he is clad in figure masking robes, normally with armour plating around vulnerable areas, and a distinct mask which acts as a psychic foci.
Kallig appears to have been partially possessed by four distinct heralds of the four Ruinous Powers, and the large amount of psychic power available to him has made this possible but it is unclear how his body has been able to survive thus far. This excess of power can also be well masked, making tracing him psychically difficult.
Influence Zone:
Kallig appears to have developed himself a small handful of worlds within Segmentum Pacificus, mainly a rather habitable system of worlds which he originated from. Surrounding systems, despite official displeasure, have developed alliances with this system, mainly with matters of trade and military protection, to allow for partial protection from Astra Militarum assets.
Notes of Interaction:
Kallig has proven that he is not wishing for open conflict with the Imperium as of late and this temporary truce must be preserved to prevent an unnecessary diversion of resources away from the other Segmentums.
Due to no active threat being posed as well as his open hostility to local Chaos Astartes group, it is desirable to maintain peace with this faction.
As undesirable as it is to work with the Great Enemy, with the return of the Chaos ████████ he has proven to be the lesser of two evils.
Warnings:
Attempts at hostility are to be avoided. With anything less than a multi Chapter offensive or the use of a Grey Knight strike force he is likely able to weather any forces applied.
Officio Assassinorum is off the table as well. Efforts using the Vindicare and the Eversor Temple have proven to be unusually ineffective.
Rates of defection are also unusually high for forces which interact with Kallig, with members of the Guard, Scions and Sororitas ignoring orders or outright defecting from their force.
Document Guidelines:
After recent increases in interactions between Kallig and members of the Inquisition and other groups within Segmentum Pacificus, it is advisable to distribute this document to any Inquisitorial assets within the region.
Sv’vaden 4 is a planet of a size between that of Terra and Luna, and is dominated by a large ocean with a major landmass surrounded by many smaller islands.
The largest island has a central collection of mountains with a volcanic pool in a basin within them. These mountains have become known as the ‘Crown’ by the human population and sections have been hollowed out for the construction of Knight Keeps. Small village populations are present near the coast lines for a supply of less common fish but most are based around the base of the Crown.
The smaller islands are known locally as Islands Minoris or Kakeren, a are host to the majority of the Kikreth population. Greater volcanic activity near the surface has allowed for a comfortable environment for the xenos while also providing rich mineral resources.
Faunal Notes:
Beyond the presence of the Kikreth xenos, there is little of note related to the faunal presence on the planet. A handful of species have been domesticated by the Human and Kikreth population for varying purposes, such as for raw materials or to act as beasts of burden. As many vital vitamins and minerals are unobtainable from the floral life, most herbivores are able to synthesise these components internally.
Floral Notes:
A majority of the dominant floral species have been initially evolved to thrive in the confines of volcanic caverns and fissures, with secondary mutations to allow for survival on the surface. With this subterranean flora, a majority of food items consist of roots and root veg, and only small portions of fruits from transported plants from the ship. Arboreal strains are present but are suspected to have died out if not for their preservation by both major species planetside.
Groups of Interest:
The Makabians
Descendant from a lost loyalist fragment of the renegade House Makabius, they retain many technological needs to maintain their Imperial Knights but have advanced very little in advancing the civilian population. While hesitant of the approach of the Unbound Empire, stable communications have been created with the splintered House and the Empire and hopes are developing to integrate them more thoroughly with time.
The Kikreth
A fledgling insectoid xenos species at near constant conflict with the Makabians. While primitive technologically, their psychic/pheromonal hive mind and aptitude for tunneling has made them able to best even the hulking Knights in ideal terrain for their skill. With the unique interpersonal communication, creating communication with the xenos has proved a challenge but not impossible for the chaotic empire.
