Thank you so much for this interesting question. Basically, I respect and appreciate every pairing and every fan of a pairing, and you won’t find any bashing/hate from me. But I really enjoy discussing different opinions with others, and I’m interested in and fascinated by why someone loves a particular pairing and perhaps finds it harder to relate to another. So, if you’d like… feel free to tell me which DM pairing you love, what fascinates you about it, or your general thoughts on DM pairings. I realised recently, whilst chatting about pairings with a lovely Dalan friend, that I like all pairings involving Alan, even though none of them is my favourite. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that Alan has been gone for thirty years, and left the band at a point when his potential partner was in a very bad shape... So, to all Dalan, Malan and Alandy fans: how do you fill that thirty-year gap, or how do you explain his decision to leave the band in your imagination, so that your favourite pairing with Alan still makes sense to you beyond the 90s? I really like and respect Alan, but he hasn’t been part of the band for more than half its history. I’d be really interested to know.

But back to the question: The most exciting of these for me is Alan/Martin (our two musical geniuses). Off the top of my head, I can think of lots of scenarios for fanfiction involving this pairing. Malan is definitely my second favourite pairing. I’m also really fond of Alan/Andy – I think that's because these tow pairings offer plenty of potential for friction, drama and physical attraction. I also like Dalan, but I'm not as fascinated by it as I am by the other two pairings involving Alan. I understand the appeal — they're two attractive, hot men who get on really well — but I think I'm missing that bit of friction or tension. I love them very much as best friends. And to be honest…I very rarely ship best friends. That's why Martin and Andy are hard for me to ship, too. I love their best friendship. They’re like brothers for me. But I understand that some people love it. The only thing I really haven’t been able to get into... is Dave and Andy. I don't think I've actually seen this pairing in the fandom yet...
