Saturday night. Was about to collapse in bed at 10pm because I wasn't feeling too good and was beat but 2 insistent and delusional Malaysian friends wanted to bring me around cool KL, feeling confident I would fall in love with KL and be in awe of its coolness, so much #Malaysianpride there (and also cos I got accused of not being a good host in Singapore). When asked which "cool" place they were bringing me to see the nightlife which they claimed was better than Singapore's, they wanted to chill at some mamak which made me wanna roll my eyes lol. But I gotta admit I did enjoy the night. When we got to Jalan Alor I didn't wanna eat cos it'd make me feel worse, and they both had to give up their eating plans to bring me around elsewhere 😁 oops. Then we walked the streets like Malaysians until we ended up at Suria KLCC (note to self: which is a mall connected to the Petronas towers at their sides and next to the convention centre which is not called KLCC although KLCC means KL Convention Centre 😒). I didn't think those places were exceptionally cool, except the KLCC park (literally) and the stroll in the park made me feel better, though admittedly we do "have better fountains" in Singapore (Malaysian 1, 2019). On hindsight though, it was good seeing what life was less in the shoes of a tourist than in the shoes of a local. It was also a pretty good experience walking along the streets at night with the presence of 2 locals because it felt safer in (chaotic) KL that way. (Also very interesting how they got thrown off guard when I asked them where KLCC was and I had to direct them in their own hometown because they were so bad with Google maps 🙄 /hairflip). Also, while I have already come to acceptance of them for their Malaysian ways, they continuously judged me for my Singaporean good girl behaviour, esp when I accidentally dropped my used tissues and picked them up and threw them at the next bin I saw 😇 (and even if I had to litter I'd do it in the most subtle and discreet way unlike the way they'd toss it off openly) #Singaporeanpride #cleanandgeeen .
