Went to go see John Mulaney live this week for my friend’s birthday! He was awesome and it was a great show.
(As a side note, I was today years old when I learned he has a little bean!! I was so freaking excited about it that immediately googled as many photos as I could find as soon as I got home after haha.)
Before the show, we grabbed a quick dinner nearby the venue. A little bean came in with her mom and probably her mom’s friend. She was probably 9-10 months old with a little dimpled cheek and a tiny, itty-bitty bow perched on the right side of her head. As soon as she saw us, her eyes went big and wide; we mimicked her, eyes wide as we looked back, and then we laughed and it made her giggle. She laughed and grinned and then ducked her head into her mother’s shoulder bashfully, still peering at us under her eyelashes as we made silly faces at her until she laughed again.
At some point, she covered her mouth with her little pudgy hands with her little knuckle dimples, grinning wide but being all coy about it. My heart was such a puddle of mush and I got distracted by her waving or smiling at me multiple times during dinner. I trailed off multiple times mid-sentence to make faces at this little bean and at this point my spouse and our friends have just accepted this and wait for my stories to resume (or not, since, y’know, ADHD and therefore if I lose the train of thought it is not coming back to the station).
...Anyway, here’s Malcolm Mulaney:
