Malec prompt: Magnus had been having a long stressful day of clients, when Alec comes home with the news that the clave has finally allowed them to get married. Fluff happens.
Read on AO3
A lonely evening
When Magnus came home that night he hoped he could relax with Alec, having dinner with him and just enjoy being with him. It was their anniversary after all. Alec had said he would be home when he came back. But he found the loft empty. A light smell of some dish was still in the air. Did he forget? Did he eat already? Without him?
He went to the kitchen to find dirty pans and pots, stacked in the sink. Magnus frowned. Awesome. So he really had had dinner without him and he didn’t even clean up. But the warlock himself also didn’t bother with it. He decided he wouldn’t care. It was time for a drink. When he went to the living room he took a glass and filled it with some bourbon. Disappointment was slowly growing in his chest. He didn’t want to feel like that but he just couldn’t help it.
Just as he took a sip of the drink a paper on the table caught his attention. That hadn’t been there when he had left. With three big steps he reached the table and took the paper.
>I’ll be back soon -A<
A soft smile appeared on Magnus’ lips, but it vanished just a moment after. Soon? When was soon? It could be any second. Or in one hour. Or even two. Sinking down on the sofa he was still holding the glass in one hand and the small note in his other. He could try calling him. Or at least message him. But he didn’t want to look too clingy. Of course he knew that there was never really time for a shadowhunter to rest. Still he could have given him a few more details. He could have helped… maybe. What if he didn’t want him around? Or maybe he had thought it was too dangerous for Magnus. He small chuckle left his mouth. What a stupid thought. Also Alec shouldn’t be the one to decide what was too dangerous for him. He was the High Warlock of Brooklyn. He had lived for centuries. And now a shadowhunter wanted to tell him about dangers? He rolled his eyes and took another sip.
30 minutes later…
Maybe he should just go to sleep already. He put down his empty glass that he had already refilled two times and got up, walking to the bedroom. Just when he had sat down on the bed he heard the door. Since he had turned off the lights, the loft was dark.
“Magnus?” Alec sounded rather confused. But what did he expect? That he would wait for the dinner that would never happen because apparently Alec had forgotten about it?
“I’m here” Magnus walked out of the bedroom and with a snap of his fingers all lights were turned on again. The wide smile on Alec’s face disappeared when he saw the frown in Magnus’. He took a small step forward to shorten the distance to the warlock.
“What’s wrong? Something happened? Why have you been in the bedroom?” There were some signs of worries in his voice. He came even closer. “Are you exhausted? It must have been a hard day…”
Magnus’ tense body softened. Alec was so considerate and caring. Still he wasn’t sure what to think of the situation.
“Did you forget?” he asked.
“Wha- of course not! Magnus. Talk to me?”
“I just… you could have told me.”
“Told you what?”
“You wanted to eat earlier or without me or whatever. I don’t know. But it’s fine. You’re back now. That’s all that matters”
Alec stared at him for a moment. He had no idea what was going on.
“But I didn’t have dinner without you. It’s still in the oven. I thought that it’d be best to just leave it there. So we can have it when I’m back.” The shadowhunter explained with a soft voice. “Look, Magnus, I’m sorry. I promised to be there. However… something came up and… I needed to head to the institute”
“Of course” Magnus got softer. He understood. The clave was important. His family was important. He just sometimes wished he wouldn’t leave the moment someone would order him to the institute.
Ten minutes later dinner was heated up again and Alec put down the baking dish on the table. The chicken smelled amazing, Magnus realized and all the tension finally fell down when Alec kissed him for the first time this evening.
“I have news” Alec said while filling Magnus’ plate. The warlock looked at him in anticipation but didn’t get an answer just now.
The small smirk on Alec’s lips and the light blush on his cheeks somehow managed to raise a certain anger in Magnus again. He wasn’t in the mood to play around. Still his voice was calm when he demanded: “Tell me.”
Alec usually enjoyed the warlock’s impatience way too much and on any other day he would have held back longer but he felt the tension from before build up again.
“My parents set the date” he finally said.
“The date?” Magnus put down his fork, looking at the younger one in confusion.
“If you can’t remember, it can’t be that important then, huh?” Alec asked rather than answering the question noticing the atmosphere becoming even worse. So he got up and grinned. Just to kneel down next to Magnus’ chair. Gently he took his boyfriend’s hand.
“We’re going to get married. Two months from now” The blush on Alec’s cheeks got stronger and his hands were shaking. He didn’t remember if he had ever seen the warlock speechless. But now was that time.
They had talked about marrying for a long time. But since Alec’s family – well, rather his parents – still weren’t delighted by first, Alec being gay, and second, picking a warlock, they had ignored it and tried not to talk too much about it since it hurt both of them. With setting the date his parents had finally accepted it.
Instead of saying anything, Magnus got up and pulled Alec up as well. He kissed him deeply, all the worries and fears disappearing while he felt his beloved shadowhunter’s warm and soft lips on his own. For a moment he broke the kiss and looked into the blue eyes of the taller one. His hand was resting on Alec’s cheek, his thumb gently caressing it.
“I love you, Magnus” Alec whispered, pulling Magnus close for another kiss. “I love you.” The words weren’t much more than a whimper but the warlock heard them anyway.
“I love you, too” he answered, his heart beating fast.
Finally. After such a long time. Finally they were going to marry.
Later that night when they lay down in bed, Magnus snuggled close, his face hiding at Alec’s brawny chest. The shadowhunter was long asleep, snoring softly while Magnus went on whispering soft words to his skin. He held him tight, not willing to let go of his lover anytime, soon.

Alec dips in and out of the book, sipping at his tea. Various sounds take his attention - Magnus’ quiet humming, the clink of a spoon against china as Magnus stirs his own cup of tea, the storm rumbling on outside. Alec’s eyes drift from from the words on the page in front of him to the assortment of wonders in the room, Magnus the very best of them.
Alec watches him with a smile, marvelling at how lucky he is to have someone like Magnus Bane in his life.
“I can feel you staring, Alexander.”
“I can’t help it,” Alec replies.

"It’s ridiculous and stupid for Alec not to know what to do with his hands when it’s not in his role as a Shadowhunter, but then all of him feels itchy and awkward and real inside his skin in a way he only does with Magnus."
Tea, rain, conversation, awkwardness, and maybe a kiss or two.

"How long did it take?" Ragnor asks, "How long did it take you to forgive him?"

He watches him, alert and observant as he is. Ragnor does not like children of Raziel, does not approve how they live and breathe supremacy, or how they use his friend like he's theirs. He especially then, does not like it when one of them, their Head, for lord's sake, the worst of them all, has his friend’s heart in a chokehold.
Camille Delacourt had been an abomination, to understate it. She was cunning and she was treacherous but she was everything that Magnus saw coming. This one, this tall and dark Lightwood boy is different. He's different because he falls in and out of trust; he's worse because Magnus doesn't see this one coming. The Lightwood boy, Alexander, Magus calls him, has innocent eyes. He has eyes that Magnus says just can't lie and yet, here he is, heart shattered and scattered for the millionth time, spilling his heartache to his bestfriend's undead ghost, and Ragnor swears he won't be the one who lets a Shadowhunters become Magnus' demise.
So, I needed to let out all the emotions and anxiety from today’s first promo for 2x18 whilst I still cannot watch 2x17 so I wrote this little ff inspired on that beautiful cat eyes scene we will be seeing next week. That’s how I imagine it to be (assuming that it’s a flashback from 2x07). The last part was actually inspired by a recent post by @scarlet-demon1998 (it doesn’t let me tag). The ff may contain many typos and grammar mistakes, I hadn’t really checked it yet. All comments and opinions are welcome.
“Magnus… you have nothing to worry about. I want this.” Alec kissed him passionately and pushed him to their bedroom. Magnus was still fighting all of his entangled feelings. He couldn’t recall the last time he’d felt this way. Whatever there was between him and Alec, he cared about it so much it was like holding something precious and fragile, afraid at every step that it may fall apart. Alec never stopped kissing him until they reached the bed and Magnus lay down, Alec above him. In the blink of an eye Alec’s shirt was off, and Magnus realised his own body wasn’t still relaxed, not as it should have been. He took a deep breath. Sometimes you cared about things so much you ended up holding them too tightly, and thus breaking them in pieces. He let himself relax against Alec’s touch and flipped them over. Now he was on top of Alec and could see the Shadowhunter’s body covered in runes, and when he looked at him in the eyes he could see all the expectation and also the fear, the same fear he was feeling now. Alec’s eyes were wide, and Magnus smiled a slight, reassuring smile. It would be his first time. And he would make it unforgettable. Magnus reached down and started kissing all of Alec’s chest, from bottom to top, every kiss whispering in a silent language a soft ‘I love you’, and ‘you’re safe with me’, and ‘I will always take care of you’. Until he finally reached the Deflect rune on Alec’s neck, about which he’d often found himself fantasising. He kissed it, then softly bit the skin, and a soft grunt of pleasure came out of Alec’s mouth. The boy had a hand tangled in Magnus’s hair, as if making sure that he wouldn’t go away, that he’d only come closer, closer, closer. Magnus’s hands were wandering down over Alec’s chest, reaching almost his hips, while he slightly sucked on his neck leaving a bruise on the pale and already sweaty skin of the Shadowhunter. He did as if to reach Alec’s mouth with his but suddenly a cold wave of recognition went all through him and he froze in place, realising the glamour he hold the dearest was inexplicably fading.
One thing was feeling nervous on a first time with a person. Another completely was that this someone could make his cat eyes come out this way. He had never lost control like that, not even with those he’d loved the most, not so easily, not so quickly. He tried to conceal his eyes again but he found himself unable to. So he hastily moved away from the other boy and sat on the edge of the bed, turning his back on Alec. “Magnus, what is it?” Alec asked, standing up on his elbows and throwing at Magnus a worried look, a hand on his back. “Sometimes I lose control.” Magnus muttered, trying as hard as he could to do something about his eyes, but it was in vane. Once the glamour faded like this, on its own accord and without him even noticing, it took him a long while and more concentration that he had right now to put the magic on again. He could feel Alec’s hand resting on his back and imagined the fearful look he was probably giving him. He couldn’t think of anything more than running away and letting the boy think he’d done something wrong. And he couldn’t do that. For as afraid as he could have been of being rejected, he would always have preferred that over hurting Alec, there was no thinking twice.
He slowly turned away, hardly breathing, and he saw Alec’s expression turn into surprise. Magnus had never felt so vulnerable in his whole life, so naked, so totally exposed to someone’s eyes. But this were the eyes of the person he loved the most. And he found himself almost glad to have Alec seeing him for what he really was, and willing to accept the truth, whatever it was. Alec didn’t say anything at first, and when Magnus was about to beg him to say something, he smiled. Magnus had to look twice before understanding that Alec was actually smiling, and it wasn’t a pitiful smile but a bright, almost delighted smile. Alec put a hand on Magnus’s cheek, coming closer, until his eyes were perfectly in front of his.
“Magnus.” He said, and he was looking at his real eyes directly as no one ever had before, without any doubt, without even the slightest hint of disgust or fear. “I love every single part of you.” Alec said, pronouncing each single word clearly. “And I want to see these beautiful eyes…” he placed a slow kiss on Magnus’s mouth, “Every…” he whispered against his lips, “…single…” he kissed his way down to his neck, “…time.” he finally sighed, coming up to look at Magnus again.
Magnus felt as if his heart was going to explode. He’d never felt so warm, so light, so free as he felt now, whilst looking at Alexander Lightwood with all of himself, a himself long before hidden and forever forgotten. He saw Alec burst out a soft laugh and realised his pupils had most probably blown wider, exactly like a cat’s, with relief. He let out a tear he hadn’t even known to be holding as his whole body relaxed, and he felt Alec reach up with a thumb to wash it away.

Summary: 'The stranger in the water had moved aside in time, avoiding the demon’s spray. He was now laying on the sand, flat on his back, arms splayed out like a snow angel. Well, a sand angel, Alec felt, was more appropriate. He could make out warm-brown skin, dark hair and… And. A…tail. A huge, metallic, dark blue and purple, shimmering, unavoidably real, tail.' In which a certain shadowhunter befriends a merman. They may fall in love. Who knows?
