I think Melli and Penny are related because they have the same eye shape and similar personalities (both are trolls, both act kinda smug, etc).

But I also think that Avery might be a descendant of Melli as well. He has a somewhat similar eye shape to Melli, both him and Melli are cocky assholes, and I thought both Avery and Melli were women for half the games.

A good chunk of being a male is having a two-way argument in your head about why it wouldn't be plausible to make a suit then go out and attempt to fight crime
