Sketching out some concepts for malice’s tent. Her tent is on the outskirts of camp and usually filled with food scraps and empty wine bottles. It’s always thrown up haphazardly, looking like it could fall down at any moment.

Okay now I NEED to know the backstory of your drow tav
I’m always happy to lore dump, I’ll try and compress so you’re not looking at a massive wall of text though! Also you can tell I don’t use AI because I’m terrible at storytelling and writing 😅
Malice’s family were lower nobility in Menzoberranzan and her mother Sablene was matron of their house and was a priestess. Having had only male children, Sablene was overjoyed when Malice was born. However when Malice opened her lil demonic looking, very non-Drow eyes Sablene lost her shit and believed the baby was cursed. Sablene tried to purify her infant by carving the sign of Lolth into her back and performing a bunch of rites but nothing worked because in actual fact the eyes are a throwback to when one of her ancestors was naughty and had a fling with a shadar-kai (heresy, I know.)
So because Sablene was a softie, instead of killing her infant, she had Malice raised in secret at their family farm by their slaves. Then when Malice was about 10 Sablene paid a seedy underbelly organisation to train her as an assassin so that her family would have a secret attack dog they could sic on their enemies.
Malice was generally accepted by the guild that took her in, despite the fact that most of them were lower class males. They kinda viewed her as lower class too because of her apparent non-Drow heritage. Over the years her mother stopped corresponding and Malice (only 15 at this point) eventually decided to try and reach out only to be told by her mother that she never wanted to see Malice again as she’d had a less disappointing daughter and no longer needed Malice. Malice was real sad about that and, in a bout of self loathing, tried to cut out her own eyes but only ended up partially blinding herself.
About twenty years later, Malice remained an assassin and a believer in Lolth (despite the fact that in any Lolthite drows eyes, Malice would be viewed as an abomination of Lolth's will).
Malice received a vision from Lolth telling her that she was special and asked that she perform a favour to show her devotion. Malice was to kill a high priestess. Lolth's vision showed her the way to the temple and to the high priestess’ quarters. Malice didn’t question anything because why would she question a goddess. She also didn’t recognise the temple, having never really been to the upper parts of Menzoberranzan.
As soon as the high priestess entered her chambers Malice knew something was wrong. Maybe that’s why she hesitated long enough for her mother to get the drop on her. Sablene didn’t hesitate for a second. She delivered a flurry of slashes across Malice’s raised arm and then a stab to her chest. The two of them rolled around, knives at each other's necks for a few moments before Sablene slipped and Malice took the opportunity to slit her throat.
Malice unknowingly participated in her mothers trial of faith, a ritual that Lolth uses to weed out the weak amongst her priestesses before choosing them to join her in the demonweb pits. Lolth will tell her chosen one that a family member or friend is going to kill them. She will then send the family member or friend a vision convincing them to kill the target of the trial and then Lolth will watch and judge whether her priestess hesitates to kill for her.
After murdering her mother Malice went on the run and lived in the wastes of the Underdark for a few months before getting squidnapped.
By the age of 3 he had a slight feeling something was wrong; by the age of 7 he knew something was wrong.
Eryx was inside his hideout in the huge garden shed; a small kitchen knife in his hand and a opened body im front of him. It fascinated him, what he saw: red; warm liquid covering the floor and his knife and hands, the cut open body of an small animal on the floor… and he smiled.
By the age of 12 he wanted to become a surgeon; making it his profession to cut. By the age of 16, Eryx was obsessed with the red, warm liquid. The teen often picked fights for no other reason than to see blood. With 17 he had to kiss his dream to become a surgeon goodbye.
Eryx got expelled from his high-school. He got diagnosed with an antisocial behavior and psychopathic traits; also was accused of killing a student, who had spread rumors about Eryx, which lead to his dropout of the school.
The accusations were dropped in court, since there were no evidence leading towards him and he was let go.
By the age of 18 he had joined the navy seals and started his training. Eryx managed the 6 contracted years as if he was born and raised on the base. Missions involving him often ended up him against the rest of the world; CQC being one of his best traits, he knocked out enemies with his bare hands or his beloved knife. But within these six years…. Something felt off. Eryx wasn’t satisfied anymore; he straight up got bored. The long training phases in between deployments couldn’t satisfied his Lust for blood anymore, so he didn’t renewed his contract. Since then Eryx made himself a name as a mercenary; took every mission he could, got paid good money.
He wasn’t recognizable by the age of 28: Eryx had become what could be described as a feral human. Only going out on a hunt, to kill for money; to kill to still his hunger for blood, to kill…. To feel alive.
When Eryx wasn’t on missions, he had slept with every man and woman on his way through the lands; making sure to use protection and got regularly tested. On the outside he was tame, well spoken, even a bit charming with his looks and tattoos, but his insides were rotten, destroyed.
On one mission he finally met him; Strix. He was hired by some posh guy, payment was good. He had to get rid of someone for the man; to get rid of Strix, who had made a deal with the same man, that later hired Eryx.
He had studied the man with the gas mask, tracked down his schedule to the minute and learned the routine. Never had he thought, that killing Strix wasn’t that easy, nor that said man in the end saved his life.
After the two of them took out the man, who hired them both, something changed inside Eryx… working with Strix felt—refreshing, good. Not to mention that they share probably more than they would ever admit.
After joining Actium Company, Eryx felt like he had a purpose in life again. Not only did he set up the whole cyber security systems for the company, he used his own written programs keeping it up to date and maintained everything himself; he couldn’t trust any other of the company to do it correctly.
By now Eryx became a leashed monster; enough freedom that he could almost do everything he wanted but still under an attentive eyes of his commander. And who knows how many years he would keep on bury corpses after his solo missions….
