does nim have any concern at all for what nightmare and terror are up to in the darker parts of the woods?? she seemed pretty mad that they considered themselves her equal / not expressly below her,, seems a bit counterproductive to toss them somewhere she can’t see and give them centuries to scheme

I'll put this in a few different ways!! But I drew up a chart just for u

Though Terror is actually the strongest out of all of Nim's creations, he is inherently useless. A broken toy! While Terror is smart (not as much as Nightmare) he has practically no skills. He was never like Nightmare and devoted himself to learning anything new. He was just Nim's plaything

Nim only regards him as a broken toy, though she held an attachment to him enough to not throw him in the bin. He's been left to deepest crevices of the toy box. It's a shame to make something so pretty, only for it not to serve you well. You won't use it anymore, but it's not ugly enough to completely get rid of, no?

But as for Nightmare, he's smarter than Terror, knows more about well.. everything. As he was an inquisitive little thing when he was by Nim's side. He could theoretically take Nim down. But Nightmare is terrified of Nim. Both of them hold deep contempt to her, but when it comes to actually being in her presence? Nightmare and Terror would freeze up.

Both are no match for her, and in Nim's eyes, they never will be. Why concern herself with the rats who are taking the scraps from her trash outside?

can you tell us abt how dream and cross met in your fairy tale wolf hunter au???? i just read it and im emotionally devastated. i need to know more or i’ll shatter into a bunch of tiny pieces

Oh man, their backstory is so sad.

Cross & Dream made the contract on the idea of ‘fighting for the injusticed,’ or on the behalf of the people who had no way of defending themselves against bloodthirsty Wolves. 

Cross was questioning the others in the Guilds and their views, ranting about how unjust and horrid the world could be to the weak and vulnerable, and he just rants to whoever is nice enough to let him talk (probably drunk) and then he turns and sees. Wolf. (thanks @boxofwaspss bombii my beloved)

Brief self-aware moment where Cross is like “fuck this is such a cringe ass nae nae moment”

Dream is like “no ur so right. Let’s be besties”

They make a personal deal then an official magic contract

The two of them have very strongly impassioned aligned moral views on the world and desire to protect the vulnerable and weak. Together, they are incredible. They move synchronously even now. It's just a shame that things would fall apart so horribly.

Okay! So, my favourite flavour is Dream being doted on by passive Nightmare specifically. Passive Dreammare makes my heart MUSH. I just need Nightmare taking care of Dream like he's his babyyy... Nightmare should feed Dream, play with him, read to him.. all those things!

I like the idea of Dream constantly needing something in his mouth—hence my headcanon of him putting smooth rocks he finds in his mouth—and because Nightmare never lets him put inedible things in his mouth, he takes Nightmare's hand hostage instead. Dream will just take Nightmare's hand and start nibbling on his fingers and just playing with them using his tongue!

I just need ittt...I like the idea of Nightmare making a pacifier for Dream.. because while Dream taking his fingers is cute and all. He does need his hand to baby his brother more. I know it's like not historically accurate or whatever but he makes something like it with magic! Don't care how we get the result, we just need the result!!

Nightmare probably would bottle feed Dream too ngl.. because Dream's just very messy with regular glasses. Dream just looks adorable drinking from the bottles and there's less of a mess! It's a win-win, really :)
