“that’s a fun way to get in trouble.” holden to banky @mallratcomics
banky pauses with one hand already on the brass end of the club's velvet stanchion rope. the line stretches down the block, the bouncer at the door is busy arguing with a guy in a leather vest about dress code, and holden's looking every bit like he wants plausible deniability.
"relax," banky instructs him. "i'm not cutting the line. i'm creating a temporary shortcut in an inefficient system." he nods towards the distracted bouncer like he's presenting evidence in court.
he tugs the rope open and gestures for holden to follow, the jerk of his head increasingly urgent. all bravado aside, a ban at this club would really put a cramp in his summer plans. "if it goes sideways, just remember, you don't know me. i'm some lunatic from the comic shop who followed you here."
