nic grinned gleefully, picking up her freshly paid for taco with her free hand, the other holding a margarita in the other. ok, so she liked beer, sure. but one of the local vendors was telling her how special this margarita was and how it went perfectly with this taco and she was in no mood to deny the man his knowledge. plus she was taking a back seat in this whole thing, doing her best to take in the culture around her and learn the reality of what cinco de mayo was about--since schools hardly talked about it. “ok, so here’s my question--a good guac: does it have chunks of avocado still in it or is it smooth?” she takes a sip of the margartia, wincing slightly. that’s tequila alright. “these are the questions that keep me up at night.”
a trip to remember... “will you marry me?”
Spencer took another sip from the latte she had gotten earlier that morning as she surveyed her work. she had just finished decorating the small area management had requested to the best of her ability. fake cobwebs, some well placed LEDs and it looked perfect, in her humble opinion. she stepped back and very nearly tripped over the person behind her,”oh! I’m so sorry, I wasn’t trying to hog the entire hallway,” she smiled sheepishly up at them,”spooky season, right? It’s my favorite time of year, personally. especially for decorating. and pumpkin spice doesn’t hurt too much either, once it grows on you.” @malnatimedia
RUBY GREEVES
Ⓗ Ⓐ Ⓓ ⒺⓈ
“Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life.”
let the land embrace the beautiful ruby greeves as she is. she will take this trip to discover herself, find her confidence to face her inner darkness, and be who she is meant to be. beautiful, embraceable, deadly.
hey now, hey now → lia barnes takes on the med
time the place the princess dreams on the shelf, miss barnes--it’s goddess season! aptly staying in the aphrodite suite, lia is thrilled to experience her first ever cruise--and to the glittering locations of the mediterranean, no less. sunshine, crystal blue waters and stunning culture are just a few reasons that she is over the moon to be able to go on this trip. as the famous lizzie mcguire once said to gordo, “promise me on this trip we’ll have adventures”--and she’s ready to make good on that request. who knows? maybe she too will be confused as a pop star’s twin and find her confidence singing in the coliseum. crazier things have happened...
open starter || malnati ballroom, nour’s birthday party
contrary to popular belief, parties were not lia’s favorite. she was not, as jordan baker of the great gatsby fame would say, a fan of intimate large parties. large parties were often full of self-important people doing self-important things--not at all the kind of environment lia liked to place herself in. this world was one of history, in parts nostalgia, in parts a nightmare. parties also meant beautiful people and lia’s inadequacy rose exponentially. she can hear the laughter of the other mothers, the admonishment of her own, the indifference in her father’s voice. her brother would be off who knows where, probably flirting his way through the various women around him. lia had always been the quieter one, years of trying to prove herself had made it easier to just be silent until spoken too. large parties often reminded her that her worth was always in flux--would her mother celebrate her behavior or critique yet another part of her already flawed existence. no, lia preferred to stay away from all that. usually.
though this party was different--it was in celebration of a human who deserved this and so much more. nour was a gem on this earth--the closest thing to an angel she was sure. so for him, she would do anything. and do it with a smile. well, at least pageant smile. most people couldn’t tell the difference, how it didn’t fully reach her eyes, how it seemed a little tight in places. most people see a smile and feel at ease. at least, that’s what she hoped.
“doesn’t everyone here look so fabulous? so happy?” she remarked, swirling her martini effortlessly, ignoring her stomach tightening as she looked out into the crowd.
