From a basic level, when looking at what the Grimm were supposed to be, RWBY’s worldbuilding as a whole makes little sense. If Grimm are supposed to be a major threat to the very existence of humanity, why are humans living in Remnant as humans on Earth do? Where are the walled cities, at the very least? Where are the programs meant to keep humanity alive via genetic testing to make them stronger via the magic systems in the world, such as dust or aura? Where is the internal conflict of nations attempting to decide what to do in the face of death?
One of these days, I’m going to do an essay on a more realistic version of RWBY’s worldbuilding.
