specialcal: can someone plea s e write a malum blurb where they’re paint balling and calum trips and michael is all like baby noooo and kisses him and helps him up and calum is :-) and then michael is like LOL and shoots him and runs off
Michael ducked behind the building a millisecond before a green paintball exploded on the brick beside him. A black one whizzed by his nose not long after.
“How are you even reloading so quickly?!” Michael shouted in the direction of the gunfire.
He got another round of black paintballs shooting by him in response. He swore he could’ve heard a giggle too. Calum’s giggle was so distinct, Michael could pick it out from across a crowded room.
His fingers trembled from adrenaline as he fumbled with the paintballs, jamming them into the hopper of the gun in as little time as he could manage.
“There we go,” Michael whispered to himself. He adjusted his helmet so the sweat trickling down his neck wasn’t so irritating, and cocked the gun, slowly moving from a crouch to a stand.
It had been at least thirty seconds since Calum had fired, which Michael found incredibly suspicious. His feet inched forward as he reached the corner of the building. Suddenly, his heart was in his throat and he felt the suspense coursing through his veins.
If this little fucker scares me, I’m going to shoot him with a real gun.
Michael took a quick breath before running into a full sprint across the open parking lot. His only goal was to get behind the dumpster, which was basically the only other cover in the vicinity.
Still no fire from Calum. Maybe he’d decided to just leave Michael all alone out there, tense and waiting? Maybe he finally had enough and wanted to eat. Or see if Ashton had ever texted back.
Michael sighed, weighing his options silently as he unclipped the helmet. The cool end-of-summer breeze felt sinful moving through his freshly-dyed blonde hair, which was mostly matted to his forehead. Helmets always looked so badass, yet when you take them off your hair is all fucked up. Catch-22, right?
Michael sat the helmet down carefully. He wasn’t sure that Calum had left. Calum was difficult to figure out sometimes, which is why Michael liked him so much. Predictability is boring. Although, in faux fighting situations like this it’d be useful.
A fly’s buzzing turned Michael’s attention to movement across the lot in a clump of bushes. They were hardly big enough to cover an entire person, nonetheless Calum’s 6’2 body. His curly black hair was unmistakable among the green foliage.
Michael felt his heart rate pick back up again. He needed to move quick, and take advantage of the fact that Calum didn’t know he’d been figured out. But he also wanted to sit there and admire how pretty his tan skin was in the light. Or that if Calum just moved a bit to the right, he’d be able to see up his shorts.
Michael pulled himself up in one short motion, positioning the gun in front of him. He began shooting one after the other - almost like rapid fire - where Calum was sitting. He heard Calum gasp and struggle to get back onto his own feet.
Michael was nearly halfway through his hopper now. He’d been walking slowly towards Calum, trying to hide the fact that he was laughing at how colorful his stolen Green Day shirt had become.
Calum was still struggling to get up. His shoes must’ve been untied or something, but Michael wasn’t giving him any mercy. Loser had to do the dishes and laundry, and winner got to pick the movie they were watching tonight so there was no way Michael was going to give in.
Finally, Calum leapt out of the bushes, half-laughing half-determined to get away. Amidst the chaos, he tripped over his own two feet, falling to the pavement.
Michael didn’t think twice before running over to him, placing his gun on the ground.
Calum groaned. “You couldn’t just fucking give me a minute to get up?”
Michael crouched down, searching him for any injuries. “Movie night is serious. I’m not sitting through Top Gun again.”
“Can you shut the fuck up and just tell me if you’re hurt??”
Calum’s lips fell into a smirk. “Are you worried about me?”
“Yes, asshole. Your knee is scraped.”
Michael looked at Calum, searching his dark brown eyes for signs of teasing. He couldn’t tell if he only wanted him to do it so he could make fun of him. But he also couldn’t tell if he was serious. Michael moved to his knee, and kissed it gently.
He wasn’t going to take any chances.
“Technically, since you hurt me, I should get to choose the movie,” Calum said matter-of-factly as Michael helped him to his feet.
Their bodies were suddenly pressed up against each other, too close for Calum to not get lost in Michael’s eyes. Michael just had that sort of effect.
Calum licked his lips, moving in to kiss Michael. Unfortunately, Michael had a different idea, and ran to his gun, picking it up and firing it at the poor, confused Calum.
“Rules are rules! Round 2!!” Michael hollered over his shoulder.
