Moody shot Andromeda a pained but resigned glare before turning back to the little girl who was holding a spoonful of a bright green looking substance.

“It’s yummy!” Dora insisted squeakily, waiting for Moody to try it. 

He sighed and knelt down to inspect the bowl at his feet that contained more of the green goop. 

“Try it!” Dora ordered again, holding the spoon out to him. 

Moody took it from her and, taking comfort in the knowledge that Andromeda wouldn’t have given her daughter anything poisonous to play with, stuck the spoon into his mouth. 

“Mmmm,” he nodded at the little girl. “Delicious.”

“Andromeda? She’s brilliant. No, no, that’s a thing people say, but they never usually mean it. I do. Brilliant, that woman is,” Marlene spoke with fiery insistence, hands flying through the air with excitement. “But you don’t say those things about her, things that people could say about anybody. Because she’s so unique. You don’t write love songs about Andromeda fucking Tonks. You write epic poems. Because that’s what she is: a fighter, a goddess. See? She even gets me going off like a mad woman. 

“Andy’s one of the bravest people I know. Brave in a way that maybe people can’t see or… don’t understand sometimes. And she never looks for any attention for it. She knows love and seeing her with her family could make anybody less cynical. Wonderful, kind type of mum, the sort every child should get to have…” Marlene trailed off for a moment, having just paid the woman a compliment more significant to her than almost anyone could know. 

Then, in a flash, she resumed her bubbly, effusive praise, “started off with the completely wrong picture of her and she changed my mind”—Marlene snapped her fingers—“that’s what she does. I could describe how she looks and say she’s beautiful. She is. But she’s so many things. I could talk us to death and back before I even got ‘round to something like that.”

Andromeda’s a special woman, no doub’ abou’ tha’. She’s braver than mos’ people see. It takes guts to leave yar family an’ everythin’ you’ve ever known after all.  Bu’ she knew she had convictions an’ beliefs an’ she stuck to ‘em. She didnna take the easy way out. Gotta respect ‘er for tha’.

She’s a kin’ woman, an’ a good mother. Tha’ little girl o’hers is a righ’ handful, but she is adorable. An’ Andromeda is devoted to ‘er. But still manages to be ‘erself.
